This plant is one I had been aware of for many years, but had not seen one with my own eyes until a few years ago. A friend came to see the garden with a single blooming bulb in a pot as a gift. While I recognized it immediately, I was surprised how showy it was- for some reason, I had thought them tiny. That bulb has multiplied to form a charming little clump, and become one of my favorites. They are budding now, and surrounding the clump I noticed lots of tiny, bulb plant-like foliage. In pulling weeds, I dislodged one of these, and I believe they are Leucojum seedlings! This is the first year I have noticed them, perhaps I had dead headed them in previous years- I don't recall.
"...and don't think the garden loses its ecstasy in winter. It's quiet, but the roots are down there riotous." Rumi
