Do you have spring blooming bulbs in your garden or around your town this week? Share photos of them in the plant database, and enjoy looking at those posted by other members. At the end of the week, I will give a report of the most thumbed images and it'll be awesome.

I'm psyched for spring bulb week Hurray! Green Grin! and spring!

I'm seeing some neato reticulated iris photos and crocus have been added and yet they are not 'featured' on the homepage with the other recently added bulbs...
I think reticulated irises are a bulb, right? as much as dutch irises are anyway.
I get that crocuses are technically a corm, so maybe that is why they are not included, even though they are kinda the classic 'hello spring Smiling bulb' for many of us. However, I noticed that Grecian Windflower (Anemone blanda 'Blue Shades') made the top 50 list and I really think Anemone blanda is a corm even though the DB listing has 'Blue Shades' as a bulb Shrug!
So, not real clear on the inclusion/exclusion factors on some of these spring bulbs and corms--can anyone help me understand?

Oh, man...who knew? If crocuses cannot be celebrated in Spring Bulb Week, it's a travesty. Those are the first, bulb-y harbingers of Spring coming up through the snow. Or so I'd always thought. Tricky little things masquerading as bulbs...even as I jammed them into the ground.

I'm drawing a line in the sand here, though. If crocuses are not included in Spring Bulb Week, I'm going on a posting-to-the-database hunger strike (with all that means...check the metrics in my profile and/or this post: http://garden.org/thread/view_... if you don't think I'm serious...) until crocuses assume their (faux-)rightful place in the festivities...or until a concurrent Spring Corms Week is established (or, really, until I get a whole lot smarter about what lives in our gardens). This is a hill on which I'm ready to push up daisies!

Seriously, though..I had no idea. I always thought crocuses were bulbs. Old dog, new tricks, etc.
