I was surprised considering how cold it's been...guess the couple of warmer days helped...Mother nature is in a mood, they are calling for more flurries tonight...hoping the sunflowers and marigolds are okay.

But then we had a night of 20s, and sprouts of bush beans and zinnias kinda melted, had to resow those. I have never had that happen before. It was an extreme plunge.

two years ago when I had so much sprouted and we were still getting some freezing nights I loaded all my containers onto wheeled metro shelves. I then took old clear shower curtains and wrapped the shelves. Later tonight when I get home I'll see if I can find the pictures.

I pushed them against the brick since that stayed warmer. I left the sides somewhat open so I could leave the whole set up like that for a few days and it would not overheat if the sun came out.

I'm just popping in here to show off my jug of sprouted calendula which I managed to get a picture of today:

I have sprouts!!! Five containers have at least one. Some more. I can't remember what right now except for some Bellis perennis. Does not surprise me. They love the cold. Even blooming in winter

Yay for that pansy!

*feels guilty for being ahead of the curve*

I have some jugs with no sprouts and I am beginning to consider that those might just not be gonna make it. Trying fritillaria seeds for the first time, for instance. Nothing so far. Also, thunbergia. Nada. Several other things.

It's too soon to know if I am being impatient or if they are really dead.

Whistling Hilarious!
