This is growing on my property, and I can't find it online anywhere. Do any of you know what it is?

The tallest one I saw was about 18 inches, and the flowers are fairly small. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

If this is a wildflowers then L. ruderale grows nowhere near Idaho.

One of Lin's references says "Lithospermum ruderale........this is the only Lithospermum species listed by USDA as being in Idaho, where I photographed this one."

This is a map of Idaho's location, isn't that area included in the BONAP map?

Jay, the green area on that map covers Idaho, and I'm pretty sure that green means that it is found there. Either way, I agree that it is Lithospermum ruderale, and it is growing wild on my property in Idaho.

Thanks for all the help! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Yes, you are correct. My geography is way off. My mind was on one of those other "I." states.

@plantladylin Lin, I wish you would have asked before adding the pictures to the database. I think that a person should be able to decide which of their pictures get added, instead of someone else deciding for them. I really appreciate your help, but please don't add any more of mine in the future. I would have picked different pictures than those.

Thanks Jennifer. I just did that, and he's fixed it so that they can't be added.

Please don't get me wrong, I love seeing photos in the database, and I feel the more pictures the better. It's just that I'd prefer to pick which ones of mine are added, because I don't feel that all of my pictures are close to being good enough. These weren't the best, and I was going to get better photos of the plant. I found out a short time ago that I have some that are much easier to get to than these were, and as soon as the weather improves, I was going to take better photos. Or try to at least. Hilarious! If anyone wants to add mine in the future, all they have to do is ask. It's nothing personal. I just want the photos with my name on them to be decent, and I didn't feel that these were decent enough.

Natalie, I truly apologize. *Blush* I thought I read somewhere that it was fine to move photos from threads to the database but I do understand if you don't feel they are good enough and I will refrain from proposing moving pictures from now on. You can go to those entries in the database and submit a proposal to have them deleted and one of the moderators will delete them. Again, I apologize.

No problem Lin, and I thank you for getting them removed. Group hug I don't mind posting bad ones in a thread, but I don't want them in the database. Those pictures need to be really good, and these weren't.

You are correct, in that it is totally allowable to submit photos from threads to the database. I've always believed, though, that the person who took the photo should be allowed to approve the addition of the photo to the database, but that isn't how it is set up. That's just my opinion of it, and I know that others feel differently. No hard feelings though, and I thank you for all the work you've done to make the database better. It's appreciated.

I have to agree with Natalie. I never submit photos to the Data base, because they are not good photos. One of mine was submitted by others, which I really didn't mind, but maybe if we don't have the copyright on them, they are fair game? Something to ask Dave about, I think.

Carol, you do get an acorn when they are added, either by you, or by someone else. And, your name is attached to them, even if they are submitted from a thread, but not by you. So the copyright isn't an issue, and I don't think that would stop them anyway, since only your name would be on your photos. Dave can block them from being added, which he was kind enough to do for me. I had no idea that it was even a possibility to block them from being added. It's so nice that someone would think that the photos are good enough, even when I don't think they are, but if you don't want yours added, ask Dave to block them for you and he will.

Not really an issue with me. I don't post many pictures, and I'm not easily embaressed. Big Grin
