i just submitted an add and it was flagged as possible dup with Begonia 'Rubra'.
there are cane begonias of Rubra type, like 'Orange Rubra' - and it is a different begonia.
However i think that there is another much more likely dup with Begonia 'Red-veined Nelumbiifolia' (i did not find this name in other databases, but B nelumbiifolia 'Rubra' is listed).

The other Rubra the system detected is a rex cultorum, so I approved your proposal.

Begonia ‘Red-Veined Nelumbiifolia’ is recorded in the IDB.

GRIN has plant material available for Begonia nelumbiifolia 'Red Vein'
I've contacted the individual who donated this material and revised our DB entry for Begonia (Begonia nelumbiifolia 'Red-Veined') accordingly. Bill included images of the species (green veins on mature leaves), 'Red-Veined' (red veins on mature leaves) and 'Rubra' (green veins on mature leaves, red margin and some red spots on the leaf).

Here is a link to images that are either his or very close in appearance on the Houston ABS chapters web site showing all three.

nice links! very useful, thanks! the red rim on 'Rubra' is beautiful, but 'my plants' certainly do not have it!.
h-mm.. my 'Rubra' surely looks like 'Red vein' (hence i thought it might be a dup...in db).
but i have a tag too from bot garden. and just verified that their pdf mentions B. nelumbiifolia 'Rubra' too in that same spot , plot 112 - Moos Sunken garden. that's all i have to go on. of course, it can be a mistake on their part...
@eclayne I'll leave it to the specialists to decide Smiling what to do...

oh, i don't know if it helps, but stems of mature leaves are also burgundy colored on 'my Rubra' - i don't have a sep pic, but you can see it at the bottom of the pic with young leaf.
