My Venus Heuchera (pic taken last year), has contracted Psuedomonas. I know what causes it and we did our best to prevent it, but now that its here im wondering if theres anything we can do to keep it at bay? my girlfriend cut off the infected stems/leaves, but will the forthcoming new growth also be infected just because? is it a lost cause? should we get rid of them now and cut our losses with new plants? or should we tough it out and see what happens? thoughts?

Only remove the infected leaves, no reason to get rid of the plants. Also if you are watering do it at the base not on the plants themselves.

thanks for the advice, Bob. "only remove the infected leaves..." We tried that but there was just too many of them. Probably 90% of the leaves were covered. We did about everything we could to prevent it, darn it! We even use soaker hoses. hopefully with drier weather in the near future it will subside a bit. I guess its just a Heuchera thing...

I have only had it a few times in the Spring on my light green ones. It stops when the dryer weather comes around.

I hope you're right!

it must be a seattle thing- given all the rain we get. we have about 6-7 Firefly coral bells in two of our shade areas. all of them got it last year.

Most of what I read is sanitation is the best way to deal with it since it does not survive for long in soil or water. They also indicate not to work on the plants when they are wet, this leads to spreading the Psuedomonas.
