Hi.. A friend invited me in and I thought I would stop and introduce myself. I live in Ohio and have a huge garden. A dog, 3 cats, a chinchilla, a bunch of chickens, a couple of greenhouses and a family.

Yes, the animals must be fed and cared for first, then the greenhouse, and lastly the family.

Hmmm, I dunno, greene. My dog gets billing before the garden. Other than that, keiper's priorities look spot on.

Thanks all. I have been outside, in the greenhouses, working on bees or getting ready for company this past weekend and wasn't around here. Woofie... The dog is a big german shepard, so of course she must be taken care of before I can get out the door in the morning, but she really likes raw peppers and carrots. I am sure she would be willing to "help" me in the garden. Really the list was of no particular order, but probably the priorities of each day since my children are all adults now. I opened the rabbit cage on friday to find it FILLED with fur. I went through it thinking somehow she had dropped a litter even thought she hasn't been out of her cage ever. So I scooped that out and tossed it on the ground. Went to the next cage... same thing only there was a litter of babies just born and all her nesting material went flying out the door from the wind. Now I had 5 naked babies. So, I went and scooped all the fur from the other rabbit cage and stuffed it into the babies cage. It was either that or... nothing? I wasn't sure she would take care of them if they had another rabbits fur on them, but so far she has kept them alive. great day in the neighborhood.

The rabbit pulling fur was probably at the peak of her cycle and hoping for a hot date. The hormones control the behavior. Hey, that was some fast thinking to move the fur to where it was needed. You are quick!

Congrats on the baby bunnies! I never had any luck trying to raise rabbits. Rabbits hate me. So we just have fence rabbits.

Greene, I had two does in the same cage and knew there wasn't any chance of babies, but it was startling to say the least to see all the fur. I went though all of it twice just for sure. Then I threw it out. They weren't needing that much insulation in the cage now, maybe it/they was just shedding, too, but wow what ever the explanation.

Woofie.... I got the doe because she was running around someones yard loose who had hutches for sale. He told me he couldn't raise rabbits as every litter died. I was so encouraged I took her. I didn't need any babies. The next thing I know (stupid me) the buck in the other 1/2 of the cage (it was divided, I thought, all the way to the top. there was a tiny gap.) had scaled the wall and squeezed through an opening to find himself a girlfriend. OYVEY! she dropped a litter of 11 count them ELEVEN babies last winter. only one died. HOW could anyone be so fortunate? evidently I was. This time there was a hole in her cage floor and she slid out and went to a greenhouse I had all the other rabbits in and one of the bucks... once again scaled a cage and squished his way OUT. I can assure I I am not in the bunny business, I just wanted the bunny poop!, but she is a good momma rabbit. I am just glad there wasn't 11 this time, too. She is a harlequin doe... but now I just call her the harlot.

Hi Philip! I I see you found me out... I arrived. I just haven't been around much. The greenhouses and gardens are keeping me really busy. I started 175 baskets this year and have none left now... They were all gone in about two weeks. Now I am worried about the powdery mildew. The nights have been cold and I have had two customers ask about why their petunia baskets look so bad. It is the powdery mildew destroying them already. I wish there was something to use to spray for it better than the neem oil. It works for a few days and then it is back. Today I used copper spray on them so I will see if that works. there just doesn't seem to be much labeled for petunias.
\Today I gave one of the bunnies away for a present. now I have 4.

I've used diluted milk as a spray for powdery mildew on roses and it helped, but you have to do it frequently. Never had that problem on petunias here, tho.

Hi Carolyn,..yep just followed the Rabbit footprints lol,..i knew you would be up yo your eyes in preparing produce for Market but i did look in here a few times though i must admit i seldom look into the Welcome and Help forum,..did so by accident!.

Woofie is right to suggest the diluted milk for Mildew,..i have to use it every year on Roses,..Foxgloves and Asters,..not all Asters suffer from this,.. it does work but smells a tad of sour mild next day.

Shame i don't live near you as i would take a Bunny or two,..though i have the feeling you would collar me to do some gardening lol.
