Yep, that's me holding the parsnips and DH smiling in the background!

I am having the same thing with carrots and turnips!

My dad grew parsnips when I was growing up. Hated them! Now I love them when they are roasted but they are finicky germinators and take a long time to grow. Best planted in summer/late spring and kept in ground until after frost. Frost sweetens them.

Wwhat kind of flowers are in the background are they Iris? I wanted to comment on how nice your booth looked. The vegetables and the flowers together really set it off.

Yes, iris in the big containers. I use cut off water bottles for vases for the regular bouquets. When I take iris it is more for decoration because they aren't really a great cut flower but I gave them to the lady as well.

Thanks! I like setting up the booth. I should have been a window dresser. Naw, working with the food is more fun!

When I have a lot of extra flowers I will use this display. Originally it was to attract people to buy flowers but it turned out some people really got a kick out of making their own bouquets. Works for me ! Then we take the leftovers to a nursing home and they use them for craft time for the residents.

Those are great displays, really pretty flowers. I need to grow more daisy like flowers.

I had rows and rows (3.5'x50') of flowers at the farm but we tilled under most last year when we were having such a vole problem. I probably should have just had them mow them but I was thinking I wouldn't be doing market this year. Black eyed susans still popping up everywhere. Not the daisy though. I planted more this year and I have a couple here, but not enough to get the huge buckets of them. They didn't plow under the echinaceas!
