Could someone please give me a link to find out why a flower would change its color. By this, I don't mean that it fades. I have a very old mature adenium--had been 4 months since it last bloomed--the flowers usually open with a coral hue, then turns to pink. Today however, a blossom opened in red! Even my husband noticed this, so I know my eyes are okay.
Thank you,
-Kadie

I found this article through bing, "The How and Why of Flower Color." http://pss.uvm.edu/ppp/article...
And found another about hibiscus changing colors. I am looking for something that is specifically relative to Adeniums. Blinking
Thanks,

I also have color variation in my orchids due to temperature. When it's colder, they bloom with much more red than in warm weather. But well, living in Guam I wouldn't think you'd have much cold weather?

Different plants will change colour of blooms for different reasons.
Some it is pH of soil, others iron content.

Thank you all. I believe I have figured it out. I will do an experiment to confirm the results and will let you know the outcome. (This may take several months.)
Thank You!
