Got this from a neighbor who got it at a plant swap. I was hoping it might be a delphinium but the pictures of foliage I've seen don't convince me. Anyone have an idea what it might be?

It looks like a red Mizuna such as 'Red Streak' or 'Ruby Streak'. If it is it will start bolting soon (in the hot weather) and have mustard-type flowers.

@RickCorey Hey, need your asian-green expertise. What do you think?

Huh. You mean it's, like, food?

Sticking tongue out Hilarious!

Maybe I'll just set it out in the garden in that case and see how it does.

Yep, mizuna is a type of mustard eaten as greens.
I wouldn't try eating it until you are positive on the ID, though! Smiling

It didn't look like a delphinium to me.

It does look like Mizuna (B. rapa ) or any of many mustards, that would look similar. Especially if it develops some red color as it ages.

Mizuna (Brassica rapa subsp. nipposinica 'Mizuna')

Several photos of mustards on one page here (Brassica juncea):

It might be edible chrysanthemum greens, "Shungiku":

Hey, if it is a mustard, a tiny nibble-spit should tell you it IS a mustard!

Indeed he does! Thanks, Rick! I'm pretty sure it's Ruby Streak. Will try the nibble and spit taste tomorrow. Oh dear, my "Enter" key is not functioning! Eeeep! Hope it fixes itself.

Kyla, I bet you have FireFox! I get the same problem. It comes and goes, so i just edit a post in Word and then copy-paste.

Greene, I still have my verbosity problem. I could have said "Looks like a mustard, to me." But thanks for the acorn!

Oh, well! I hope I don't make people wear out their "Page Down" key.
