Atlantic's First Invest of the 2015, 90L, Organizing Over the Bahamas

This seems far too early.

http://www.wunderground.com/bl...

I got curious & Googled how early the first invest occurred in 2005, the year that brought Dennis, Rita, Wilma & the unforgettable Katrina. The first invest occurred on May 13th of that year. Hummmmm......

Interesting, I just told my DH that we will, for certain, get hurricanes this year and I don't know why, but I Just know it...I'm trying to think positive and banish them!

So right about the warm weather in April, I think the Gulf temperature is about 10deg. warmer than usual for this time of year. My kids were visiting last week and it was perfect for swimming, even for me and I like it warm! But warm water is what enables the storms to really get going. Let's hope May stays as nice and cool as it has been.

I don't know about you Elaine but starting tomorrow we get into the 90's which is VERY unusual. They have us for 94 on Tuesday. Blinking Blinking Blinking Confused

Well the heat has sure been wicked. On top of that...no rain. I got so sick in the heat today, I scared myself into thinking my heart was wacking out on me. Its just to early. My daylilies wont set pods if it hits 90, and its prime daylily season.

OK...so maybe I did a little too much looking, and it did get a little hot, and then maybe I did drive all the way back over to go to Floyd Cove today Drooling

I agree Pam, it's WAY too early for such heat but it looks like it's here to stay & that scares the pants off of me!

Everybody just be careful out there & remember our FL heat & sun is nothing to mess around with. Drink plenty of liquids, wear a hat & go in the A/C & cool down every once in a while.

Pam I can't even believe the size of that bloom!!!! Blinking Blinking Blinking Even without anything next to it to give size perspective it looks monstrous. Wow!

@Dutchlady1 That's a big relief Hetty. I was afraid we would have to jump in the car and rush to FL for the big cleanup afterward and I have a doctor's appointment next week. Missing that appointment would mean who knows when I could get another. The first year we had the house after my brother's death was 2004 when we had three hurricanes, which made me wonder why anyone would want to live in FL but my father used to say that was about the only excitement they had Rolling on the floor laughing

Well 'the remnants of Erika' certainly was a non-event here. We had some nice, gentle rain and less wind than we usually get with afternoon thunderstorms...

I'm waiting to see if it rains more here. Need to fertilize my orchids today but no use to spray on soluble fert and have it washed off by heavy rain . . . but The showers on the radar seem to be circling away from us. Typical of here, everyone else around us gets rain and we get nothing!

Not sure you're 'out of the woods' just yet, Hetty. The map shows a huge amount of rain offshore of you.

We finally got one good shower, but it only lasted about a minute. I still need to add water to my pool and pond today . . sheesh! All that rain is pouring down into the Gulf, offshore.

Raining again here! I don't think Pasco County can hold any more water. I'm in Hillsborough and we're pretty full ourselves. The county government has been handing out sandbags for days.

We didn't get a lot of rain on Erika. I'm not complaining though, it is a welcome relief for my plants that don't like too much water.
