So maybe it makes sense for Lone Star to have its own thread as I try to track with this bloom thing here. Rolling my eyes.

I'll try for a better shot, but see this li'l fuzzy green thing? I dunno, maybe an offset instead of a beginning bloom?

So, a few more of those green fuzzy things have appeared, but I'm not going to try for a picture until something is big enough that my camera can photograph it clearly! (They still look more like offsets than potential blooms to me but too little to see much of anything yet.) (And also whadoo I know? Rolling my eyes. Green Grin! )

Those are definitely offsets forming Kyla. Hurray! Hurray!
How exciting. Lone Star's offsets are so interesting with their very pale coloring against the darker parent. It won't be long before it will look like this, they are a heavy producer of offsets.

So, is it also going to bloom? Or does this mean that was a false alarm?

I fear there isn't room for the offsets, in that basket! Confused

Would you give me a new photo of the entire container? Lone Star doesn't take very much room. You may be just fine until next year, around the beginning of spring, when it will begin to actively grow again.

Lynn I'll be happy to, soon as it's light enough out. Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

I did transplant one rosette that is making offsets. There is a second rosette in the basket which is also producing them, alongside this big one. Which isn't going to bloom after all at this stage? Ya think?

Picture soon. Thank You!

Okay, here is the big Lone Star in the basket, with a smaller rosette to the side.

And here is the rosette I transplanted because it was right up against that basket edge:

Do you see the one offset that is pointing straight down toward the bottom of the frame? Just to the right of that is another that has actually buried itself into the potting soil! It's firmly attached at each end, not broken off or rotting or anything..... but it is sure buried! Pretty odd.

I wouldn't move the ones in the basket right now. Leave them and have fun watching them. You can move them next year as soon as your ground is not frozen. You can gently lift the buried offset out of the soil with a fork or butter knife. Just push a little dirt under it once you have freed it.

Okay, thanks, Lynn.

So, does this mean this Lone Star is not going to bloom?

At this time it does not look like it to me. 'Lone Star' has a very odd way of growing compared to many of the other semps.

Heh. I just scored a lot of clay pots -- small to medium, various shapes, all perfect for growing semps in.

Your wish is my command, apparently. Green Grin!

This is the clay pot border; this friend gave me all these a while ago:

And here is the pile of new pots:

Yes. Sadly, she can't do much gardening and is downsizing a lot, but I'm grateful to put these things to use!
