I just got 3 seeds online on Amazon. I was wondering how do you get this voodoo lily- A bulbifer. to grow from seed. is it easier then growing Konjac.

BTW my voodoo lily the Konjac is doing very nicely its bulb is swollen with water and its shoot is taking form.

I know nothing about that particular plant but the database info for Voodoo Lily (Amorphophallus bulbifer) says to remove the seed from the berry which contains chemicals that will inhibit germination.

Best of luck!
Aroids from seed are tricky!
Never know though, you might have s new cultivar there, most amorphs are propagated asexually, pups and bulblets and such... Seeds commonly do not stay true...

Bulbifer is a fun one!
Once they're up to size, they actually grow little bulbs inside the leaf stem! Very unique!

Crying

If possible, I'd attempt to try to find a small bulb, it will be far more reliable for you!
From seed, it usually takes 2-3 years to get a plant with enough bulb to survive typical storage.
If you order a bulb, even a very small one, it will be around as large as a 2-3 year old seedling.
Basically you'll jump ahead a year or 2, and have a much better chance at success.

If your having trouble locating one, you can tree me, I don't have bulbifer, not really sure why not! I do have several that make leaf bulbs just the same, as well as some that don't.
Fun plants!

Okay.

I made up a parity of a song, 'That's what makes you beautiful '

Baby they light up my world like nothing else, the Amophallus genis overwhelms my room with their putrid smells Ohhh OH OH that's what makes them beautiful.

Coming from all around the globe I don't know know where or what to grow. Someday oh someday the world will see, others don't understand why I want them so despertly Konjac, bulbifer with a start and then a gigantium so have a heart. Ohhh oh oh voodoo lilies are beautiful.

With giant bulbs that sleep away underground, as winter ice and cold rage they cant be found

ohh oh oh corpse flowers are beautiful.

Some are giants the biggest you will ever see others don't now why I want them so despertley. the Anmorphallus genis overwhelms my sanity

oh oh oh That's what makes them beautiful.

If you grow from seed please document germination, like this and elephant ears I hear seeds need to be planted right away or they die.

They absolutely do need to planted immediately!
It may be possible to leave s seed head uncleaned and store in the fridge for a few weeks maybe longer, the seeds are coated with a membrane that helps keep them moist, slimy really, and it inhibits germination, once remove they spout fast, or dry right up.
Aroid seed varies is size and the bigger seem to last a little longer.
Generally if conditions aren't stable and ideal, chances of success are low.

It came. I have it planted in soil deep like it it said and it should be blooming size. it looked like a giant erect penis. when i took it out of the packaging. with a pink horny growth which will be the new flower. The bulb was the size of my palm.

I watered it and put it under lights..

Took my baby konjac outdoors yesterday and it responded by making a fatter shoot. should be leafing out in a few weeks.

Your description is rather interesting LOL 😂

Pink growth could be the leaves too, usually flowers grow very early but you'll have to wait and see!

I think is a flower but then again I'm not 100% sure I thought the bird of paradise was flowering when it just sent up more leaves- deformed ones at that.

Right now I took every buddy out to enjoy the outdoors until we get back from tayler falls WIS.

I got some bulbs of a relative of this plant at the Home Depot. They grew well in my zone 6 garden, they did survive the winter, here. They grew so big, and took up so much space in my little shade area. I gave them away, to someone with a lot more space.

You should hope for a leaf, not a flower, it won't be a flower this late unless that bulb was stored in a fridge.
They rest after blooming, around 4 months, soooo if it's a bloom now, you've already lost an entire growing season, aannndddd if it does make a leaf after that rest it's really not good, you'll be left with a plant that depletes all its energy in that growth and can't replace it...

It'll be a leaf, and as they emerge they are equally as strange as the bloom, more so in my eyes... Just wait for the "evil fingers of death" stage, as I call it!

maybe a titan arum or other large Amorphallus... there are a few types that grow to a similar size but why would 'home depot of all places' be selling titan arums/ giant amorphalluses when konjac is smaller/cheaper/ easier to find and doesn't need as much care.. Rolling my eyes.

granted Konjac isn't small either it will grow to 5 or 6 feet but that's tiny compaired to a titan aums 30 foot leaf. the tuber of a mature titan arum can be 200 lbs.

yeah its a flower ( to the poster swayback ) so how do I help this plant? I've been watering it and placing it under lights and just waiting it out. its starting to open up the outer pedal/spathe and a flower stalk is showing.
