Had to get on a ladder to get the whole thing in the pic-even then I had to lift the camera up by the top of my head, guessing if I got the shot.

That is one gorgeous Hosta and I would be proud to have it in my garden. Having said that I also appreciate some cultivars of Hostas that make a statement at various stages of maturity. For example I remember seeing my first plant of Great Expectation many years ago. It was tiny but already showed potential. It is wonderful now that it is mature but was an asset each year that I have had it. Some Hostas do not have anything to offer looks wise for a few years and you have to have faith that they will improve each year as they mature.

I remember your side view pic from last year of your Sagae, and it is a beauty! I'll bet there's a lot of ooh' s and aah' s over that one! How long has it been in that spot? It looks very happy there!

I'm new to hostas and need some advice. I moved this from a sunny spot but I think I was too late. Is this Sagae? Is it sunburned?

I was just out looking at some of mine and they look just that bad. I am watering them more now and I think next year they will be fine. Just too much sun here at this time of year, even though they are mostly under big oak trees, some spots just let the sun slip though. Not sure about it being Sagae.

The last two along with some that are not sunburned are growing in this bed.The afternoon sun is hitting them just right to fry them.

Sunburned, yes. As to variety, I don't have a 'Sagae'; so I'm not sure. I would suggest a larger pot so that you can keep it watered more easily.

Thanks Ann. I had it on the front steps which was OK until we got more into the summer. I'll repot it for next year.

I've had a 'Sagae' for about 15 years and it grows in almost total shade. I'd have to say that it's one of my favorites because of the height - almost architectural.
