I bought my first agastache from Santa Rosa Gardens. The plant was already pretty leggy, now it just sprawls on the ground. It never has grown upright. So my question is do I need to cut it back and then get one of those cages that the stems grow through it to hold it upright?

Yes, I'd cut it back and use one of those cages.

It is a Terra Nova intro and here is their info on it. http://www.terranovanurseries.... And here is the ATP database info. Giant Hyssop (Agastache 'Summer Love')

Maybe you got a bad one from Santa Rosa. They'll mail you a (free) replacement one.

That's what I'd do, because I've never had an Agastache sprawling on the ground.

If they get too much shade and/or too much water they can also get sprawly. Do you have a photo?

I didn't think I could copy & paste what Terra Nova stated in the link regarding the full sun, not too much water when they get established and so on, so I thought Kabby could click & read the link. Smiling

I didn't look at the link; it was just my own observation.

Hi everyone, I work night shift so I won't be home until Thur to take a photo. I planted this in an effort to hide dying daff foliage. In fact I've had the agastache propped up on the daff foliage but they are starting to die back now. This is a full sun bed. Watering, mother nature has been doing that this week. Otherwise I water about every 3-4 days.
