hi, fellow heuchera lovers. Thumbs up I just heard the term 'turkey necking' for the first time. I'm wondering if someone has a photo of it they could post, so I have a visual of what it looks like? I read the description, but hard for me to visualize... Confused

I found one on here! It's just when the base gets tall. My mom grows African Violets and after a few years they do the same thing. This link shows how to fix them by dividing and restarting.

You can do 2 things with this situation.
1) cut of the turkey neck near the soil and replant cutting into fresh potting soil. It will root in about 3 weeks. I pot mine up in quart size containers so I can control the moisture. You can use a root power if you like, I do. The part that is left in the ground should sport new leaves and make a plant. Also clip the stems away from the main stock just to clean things up. You can see the old stems in picture 2.
2) Dig the plant up and lower it so the soil level is inline with the bottom leaves.

I like to do 1 because then I get more plants.

Yes, they are as long as they get good drainage.
