Hi, I am hoping you can add some pics and LMK which have the best plant habits. Hurray!

Thanks

Do you mean double edges? Or are bicolor edges something new? Could you give an example of a daylily that has bicolor edges?

Debra, no I just meant the colors on the edges. Most of mine only have one but I have seen pictures of others with more.

Here is one that I have House of Quack

Here are three that I grow. They're all evergreens that have struggled through the last bad winters.

MYSTIC BUTTERFLY ffo today - This one died last winter in a pot that was sheltered under my carport. I replaced it this spring because I liked it so well. It hasn't lived here long enough to give you plant habit data. I think this one actually has a triple edge.

GILDED BY GRACE - Mainly top branched (14-17 buds here) and scapes were shorter than registered in my garden. It did rebloom well the first two years I had it. Two winters ago I lost half my fans, and the remaining fans were very small. This year no increase in fans, but I do have scapes coming. Another evergreen that does not care for extremely cold winters.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN
This one has superb plant habits and is a great parent - bud counts in the 20s with four-way branching here. I lost it in a pot two winters ago, but replaced it this spring.

Love the looks of the blooms with the bicolored edges, but wonder if they have been selected and breed for that to the point they are not very robust plants anymore?

Larry, they were all three bred in Florida, perhaps not the best plants for zero and sub-zero temps. Where I live we have had unusually cold, wet winters with very little snow cover for two years. Gilded by Grace was not mulched the winter it had the major setback. God Save the Queen was in a pot that repeatedly got too wet. I've seen those two grown in the north and flourishing. I think I just need to better protect them during future winters by heavily mulching.

Lyle, I love that last one!! Purple is my favorite color. All that have been posted are nice. Is it just me or is the ruffle on Begin to Wonder wider than most.

God Save The Queen is a robust plant for me. I have mine in the ground, it has added several fans in 3 yrs. Hurray!

Beautiful seedling Larry!

I love double edges but I don't have any pictures right now.
I will add to the praises of God Save the Queen though. It is robust and has increased in my garden.

I love 'God Save The Queen" also. Last year the colors were much prettier to me than this year, I keep hoping it will revert back to the bluer looking colors.

I know I have several bicolor edges but so many are new and haven't bloomed yet so I don't have any stats on them or know how they will survive my 5a zone. I like looking at others though Thumbs up

Larry, that seedling of yours looks like it has a triple edge. I'm seeing gold, lavender and a wine red color there.

@Seedfork I have noticed color changes on a few of my daylilies as well from year-to-year. What causes that?

@amberjewel,
I have no idea, but I assume it could be the composition of the soil, maybe PH also. I know for blue Hydrangeas I have to add lime, but I have never seen any references to lime affecting the color of daylilies.
