I want to show you some pictures from the nursery of my friend Volkmar Schara. Sempervivum grower in Germany. A few days ago, I made a visit. It's about 80 miles to drive for me.

Not boring at all, Wolfgang...I loved the photos and got excited just seeing the various, very nicely grown semps of your friend, Volkmar. They all looked gorgeous!
And if I may ask, why is the Jovi collection called "Cheese"?...is it reference to the coloring or the smell? ... ( )

the coloring was the reason for the names. They appear with yellow colors in spring.

Lets put all we know about this amazing sempervivum hybridizer into this thread. No going off topic. This thread is strictly to post information about Volkmar Schara and his sempervivum.
We have 59 sempervivum in our database that are creations of Volkmar Schara. To see them go to the sempervivum database and do a 'Search by characteristics (height, bloom color, etc)'. Just type his name in the hybridizer box, and away you go.

Paddy, thank you so much for posting the address to Volkmar Schara's online store. Boy could I get in trouble on that site. Did you all see that very strange looking sedum Sedum amplexicaule ibericum? And would I ever love to have Sedum dasyphyllum v. musatcanticum.
Okay, I think I am on overload. I just looked at the Prometheum, Crassula and Delosperma.

Wolfgang your photos are beautifully done, and Mr. Schara has staged the plants perfectly. He is an artist at heart in both creating new semps and staging.

By the way, in the eighties Volkmar was a customer of mine, when I was a cactus grower. And, conversely, now I'm his customer.

That's great. He sure has introduced some nice Sempervivum.

I have many of his semps. Wish I had them all.
