My alluaudia (species unknown) is not leafing out. Is it dead or are they really slow to leaf out? I did not water it at all over the winter and started watering again when the weather warmed up. I water it once a week and it is outside. Our temperatures have been in the 90s.

No problems now. It is starting to leaf out.

Yes mine was slow to wake up, too. But now there is 6 inches of growth on top. They like a fair bit of water and food during teh growing season and almost none during dormancy. I have an alluadia montagnacii. Can you post a pic of yours?

Here are two different views. It has really leafed out this past week. Watering on Tuesday might have helped. I don't know what species it is but I guessing it is one of the more common species. We got the plant in Phoenix, probably about 15 years ago. We were looking for an ocotillo and the nursery man suggested this instead. It is growing better than my ocotillo. (I also have a pachypodium that give no water in the winter. Those Madagascar spiny forest plants don't seem to take winter water.)
