We did, Tom. It was a sunny, warm day (not hot) -- and just perfect for a road trip, and for wandering around and through garden after garden after garden of glorious Irises. Sigh. Would like to do that about once a month!!

@grannysgarden
Bonnie, I was going to tell you that we'd meet you there next May, but then I looked at a map and saw that you are about 400 miles away from Springfield Tennessee, so I don't think that would be a good day trip for you. Sure do wish you were closer, though. It was a sight to lift spirits for sure!

If either of you two needed extra iris then you could go back in late summer when Greg has his $1.00 per rhizome sale. Not all varieties are on sale though or I would be there at the crack of dawn to snatch up all those Burseens!

Read the article also and know firsthand that Wild Iris Rows is a good place to order/purchase irises. I got to sit with Judy and Greg Hester when Region 7 meeting was in Lexington and see them at the ones in TN also. They send you lots of extras and usually ones they know will grow well for your area. I am close than you are, Mary Ann, so I must make a trip down there next spring.

Thank you for the nice write up Sharon, and steering me there Mary Ann. It went well with morning coffee. Smiling

I have had great interaction with Greg about his iris, so I love that they got a great shout out! Believe the sale shout out led to the Gerry Atwell battle last year Mary Ann? Hee.
I have ordered classics from him this year, but need to say again that his Vuneta Krisle have a heavenly smell. Very bright color and long blooming too, but that lovely smell!!!!!

It was a mighty battle indeed, Leslie! I only won it because I acted a hair quicker than you did. Who would've ever thought that he had only one rhizome left????

Anyway -- it's doing fine out there, but didn't bloom for me this year. Poetic justice, eh? Smiling It was fortuitous that I got to see it this year during our visit to Wild Iris Rows!!! Green Grin!

And was it nice in bloom? Mine will be sent a bit later this summer. Not all the ones I got earlier in the summer from WIR bloomed this year, but most of the late order ones did. They were mostly Burseens in the late batch, only I Wuv Woses and Sensationalizer didn't bloom. I expect they will next year.

Did you get to see his dwarf Intrepid Hunter in bloom?? I really want to see that one.

It was very pretty -- you'll be glad to have it!

I did not see Intrepid Hunter -- or, if I did, I didn't make a note of it. The dwarfs usually finish blooming earlier than the TB's -- and we were there at the end of the TB's. Does he have a picture of it on his website?

He has a great picture of it, and his pictures have been pretty true to what I have gotten but I like to see comparison pics. Guess that comes from too many vendor pictures looking too good to be true! (No offense Hester's!).
