hi all!

I have a lot of very new DL's, that I planted this April.
Most of them are sprouting scapes and are starting to bloom.
One of those is (supposed to be) Lace Babydoll..

Thumb of 2015-06-30/Mayo62/210b18

However, this is the flower it is showing Blinking

Is it possible that a very first flower on a very young plant is thís different from what it is supposed to be? Shrug!
Or is it just an other cultivar all together?
If so, any idea what it might be? Confused

thank you,
Mayo

It certainly does not look like the right flower to me.

Mayo62,
I don't think it is possible for that to be the correct plant, it is just way too different! Look over the list of names of the other plants you have and see if the labels could have been switched.

I was afraid of that... Sighing!

I already looked at the other cultivars I am supposed to have (it seems they will have to flower before I can be sure...)
and none of them should look like this Shrug!

What is it, a so called UFO ?
Can I search in the AHS db on color and shape?

I like surprises, but not this kind.. Angry

For now it should be a NOID for NO Identification, but that will change if the identification is ever established.
I would send the source of the plant a picture stating it is mislabeled and ask if they know what it is?

I agree I would contact the seller to see if they can ID it for you and hopefully they would offer to send you the correct plant at no additional cost to you.

My first NOID! Rolling on the floor laughing
I guess everybody should have at least one of those Big Grin
Hopefully the only one.. (I bought several cultivars from the same nursery)

Three other 'Lace babydoll' fans will be having flowers the coming 2 weeks, I'm curious how they will look!

I already emailed the nursery, fingers crossed they can tell me it's name.
I will let you know what happens Thumbs up

There are other daylilies with that purple/yellow colour, such as 'Howdy'. The daylily often sold (in North America anyway) as 'Magic Dawn' is reputed to actually be 'Howdy'. There was an original 'Magic Dawn' that was registered with the AHS as a rose pink self, so it appears even the AHS has the wrong plant picture in their database for that one!:

http://www.daylilies.org/Dayli...

Also the ATP database isn't picturing a rose pink self for 'Magic Dawn' either, although it describes it as such.

Sorry to sidetrack a little, I mainly just meant to say that there are other possibilities for the "imposter" in this thread.
