This is a question my next-yard neighbor, Peggy, has and I told her there were very smart plummie peeps here that could probably answer it.................

She has a very nice plumeria, probably at least 3 feet tall and several branches. She FINALLY has a bloom, but has been noticing that other "blooms" seem to be drying up and falling off. Anybody know what the problem might be? The plant is in good heath, and I don't think she is under-over watering. If it would help, I could go take a couple of pix of it if you want.

Noticing that you're in Wisconsin, my guess is abrupt temperature changes? Or if she has it inside, the air may be too dry?
It must be heartbreaking to wait for blooms then watch them all drop before opening. I know, I've been there....

It has been outside. I'll go get a pic. Or 2. Or 3..............

I too would expect it is related to temperature variations, particularly cool temperatures and perhaps the lack of enough hours of sunlight. I have had this happen in the spring when a cold front moves though and it is cloudy for several days with lows in the upper 50's and lower 60's.

Is this the Celadine? It looks like there will still be lots of flowers to come.

I suspect there is an infestation of some kind, notice how the two yellow buds are kind of twisted? And in the second picture it is clear to see the small buds have a darkening at their base. Maybe spider mites I would suggest she spray it with a mild insecticide or miticide. Always spray in the evening.

Darn it, I didn't think to check for "livestock".

Ken, yes, I think it is "Celadine". It looks like it will have lots of blooms, but Peg said that all of a sudden they just dry up and fall off. We'll see what happens. I might go up later and look for bugs.

If it's mites you might want to bring a magnifying glass.

I don't think it has mites................I will tell Peg that perhaps the temp changes were enough to cause the drop.
