I have slices, scrapes, and scars from being in my yard. This is the third one this season alone, brand new razor-sharp thin snips. Im lucky it didnt go further and chop off my toes! It's covered in a thin layer of bacitracin zinc. Sighhhh. Yes, i am up-to-date on my tetnus vaccine.

I'm always get scratches or cuts. They say that old people have thinner skin, so it happens more. Especially living in Texas, where so many plants have thorns!

That scratch is seriously close to my inner thigh. The skin is so much thinner there than anywhere on my leg! Between the yard and at work, I am keeping Neosporin in business!

Owie, Cheryl! I'm certainly eligible for membership in the "always getting scratches, scrapes and bruises" club... and usually can't remember what I did to actually get them, so if anyone asks I just tell them I'm pretty certain it had something to do with gardening Rolling my eyes.

For all my bumps, bruises, black and blue marks, I just reply (when asked how I got them)...rough sex. That shuts down the conversation.

Beware of knives. You've had some damage there.

I gave up my cleaver when my tremors made me too nervous to use it. I like ten fingers for typing and gardening.

Dang Greene, you're a walking hazard. The glass lizard bit you????

Cheryl you better watch those thin snips.

Got my last tetanus shot in fall of 2010 & had to fight with the doc about getting it. He thought it was ridiculous & I told him I'm a gardener & we never know what we're going to run into. He still thought I was crazy but I insisted & he complied. Can you imagine?

I won't mention the time I was in a hurry to clean out the trunk of my car. I forgot that I had my lovely sharp long-handled lopping shears in there. I grabbed a handful of whatever and scooped it into my arms and yeow! The loppers bit me on the arm just above the inside wrist. Had to do some quick first aid by using whatever came to hand (bandanna and duct tape Thumbs up ) until I could get home. One little problem...I was cleaning the trunk out of sheer boredom as my car was broken down and I was waiting for the mechanic to arrive. (I have to be pretty desperate to clean. *Blush* )

They can bite if you pick them up and show them to someone. I guess my grip may have been too rough or perhaps the glass lizard was in a hurry to grab lunch.

Edit to add:
I forgot to say, the lizard was like a bulldog; he (or she) didn't want to let go.

For those who never saw an Eastern Glass Lizard and since I was not able to take a photo that day, here is a link.

One more thing I have never heard of! How interesting, though... a legless lizard. When you look at the 4 together in the one photo, the heads DO look more like lizards than snakes, but I'm sure if I ever saw one crawling on the ground I would just think it was a snake.

And honestly, Greene -- I thought we were talking about some kind of decorative lizard made out of glass that broke and cut you or something Blinking Rolling on the floor laughing
