I should have explored the site more. I found the planting guide. I do not know what Hardiness Zone Taylor is in, though. Thanks for such a well-designed site. Now if I just remember to check it out thoroughly. Elaine

Welcome to ATP Elaine, from another Elaine. Smiling This is such a great site with answers to just about any question or problem you might have.

You can find your zone by just doing a search under USDA Hardiness Zones. A map will come up and you just click on the approx. location of your new town.

Our Fearless Leaders, Dave and Trish Whitinger (owners and founders of the site) live in Jacksonville TX somewhat northeast of Taylor and there is a whole forum on Texas Gardening available to you where you will find lots of knowledgeable people near you for info on what to plant when, good nurseries etc. When you get situated you will have many more specific questions about your new garden, I'm sure.

Hi Elaine, I am new here as well and I love it! Everyone is so helpful and friendly.
I live south of Austin but if you want to know about the nurseries and restaurants in your area, just holler Smiling

@enewman375 Welcome! You're just a half hour from Austin! 'Even closer to Georgetown where @Esperanza lives. I would think Georgetown may be more in your planting zone than Austin. You have better soil there than we have in west Austin. Lots of limestone and rock for us.

Drop in on the Texas forum when you get a chance. Glad you found us!

Welcome!

@Bubbles , I think you might have meant Escuba? I live in the rocky hills like you.

I have never dug around in Taylor but I have in Granger. If Taylor is anything like it is there then I have to say I am in envy of the soil you have Green Grin!

You are so right! That's what happens when I get my "E's" mixed up! I will call for @Ecscuba to come forward with her sage advice. You and I only have rocks and scrub brush to garden on. Thumbs down
