I'm looking for eucalyptus trees to feed the leaves to my stick insects.
I've heard we do have them in the UK, different varieties.
Is this one of those?

I think eucalyptus trees would have an herby medicinal scent when the leaves are crushed?
If so that could help in id

Looks like Salix to me. Stick a sprig in water and see how fast it roots...

I think you probably have eucalyptus. If I understand right, it should have a scent similar to that.
Do you have a park or zoo? some place like that where you can take a piece of it? Staff at a place like that would be able to ID if more positively than just here by pic. Just toss it in w the insects, if they eat it, ok, if not, ok (?)
won't they eat what they need?

Seems like that's the best idea. There's no zoos around I'm in a completely urban area! But the insects have bramble, oak and rose so I suppose it would not hurt to add it and see what happens. I have lots of eggs so even if something bad happens I've got more Smiling thank you everybody xx

It doesn't look like an eucalypt - but goodness there are 100s of species and several unnamed ones.
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.
