Well this big caterpillar got very big and very healthy eating away the tomato plants, good thing I have plenty more... . does anyone know the name of this kind of caterpillar? And how to keep it away from my plants? I had heard they are tomato eating caterpillars and that they sting... he did have a huge stinger..
My husband just nicely moved him far away from the garden...

Tobacco horn worm

They can't sting.

Around here they rarely make it to pupate, the wasps larvae eat them up!
Please tree mail me for trades, I'm ALWAYS actively looking for more new plants, and love to trade!

Various Sphinx and Hawkmoth are the result of Hornworms , averaging about 30 species , Set them in a nearby tree , they will find another host ..
Mine are a rather large size sphinx moth when I get them ,
In the Butterfly garden if a plant is not chewed up I feel like a failure

Jim, the tobacco hornworm only eats things in the nightshade family so you can't just stick him in a tree to find another host. He will eat eggplant, brugmansia, datura, nightshade, etc. But not most trees.
