Well this big caterpillar got very big and very healthy eating away the tomato plants, good thing I have plenty more... . does anyone know the name of this kind of caterpillar? And how to keep it away from my plants? I had heard they are tomato eating caterpillars and that they sting... he did have a huge stinger..

Jim, the tobacco hornworm only eats things in the nightshade family so you can't just stick him in a tree to find another host. He will eat eggplant, brugmansia, datura, nightshade, etc. But not most trees.
