I was just making some new labels for my daylilies now that they're blooming and I can confirm their ID by my map. I looked up 'Tetrina's Daughter' to check whether the apostrophe 's is included in the registered name and noticed the picture in the AHS database looks more spidery than mine:

I know I got this as 'Tetrina's Daughter' and it resembles most of those in the ATP database. Is anyone else's as spidery as the AHS picture?

I have a friend who has it and the blooms on hers always look more trumpet shaped.

Sue, mine has petals similar to yours rather than the AHS one with more spidery petals. The daylily nurseries I checked have photos that do not look much like the AHS version but more like your version.

I've been disappointed in Tetrina's Daughter. I too was expecting a more spidery looking bloom. Mine looks more like yours. It's been in my garden for about 5 years now, and hasn't yet looked like I thought it would. I've got to clear out some of my plants in the next couple years. TD will be one that will go.

Joy, I bought and planted three 'Tetrina's Daughter' last Fall because I loved the way it looked in my Dad's garden (and it definitely looked more spider-y, as I recall). Mine hasn't bloomed yet, although there are some sort-of underwhelming scapes and buds. I'd be very interested in hearing the reasons you're getting rid of it, if you have time. I'm much more apt these days not to give some plants as many chances and seasons in the garden as I have in the past! I know we all have different gardens and different opinions, but I love hearing other gardeners' perspectives on specific plants.

Nancy, My reason is I'm just trying to grow too many and it's hard to truly enjoy them when you have so much. I'm currently growing over 900 cultivars, plus I have nearly 300 seedlings. So I'm rethinking what I grow. If it hasn't completely wowed me, I'm getting rid of it. I have many others that look similar to this one. If it were spidery like I thought it would be, I might want to keep it.
I'd really like to get the number down to a dull roar!

Hi - I'm new. (Loving it here.) How do I find the AHS's photo of Tetrina's Daughter? (I am a member there.) I just went outside and looked at mine. It looks a lot like Lisa's, which does have a slight spidery feel to it. Definitely not like Sue's.

regarding AHS database corrections: If hybridizer is alive, any corrections must come from that individual. if not, contact Janice Wood or Debbie Monbeck. I don't have their AHS emails handy, but both are listed. I think Debbie's is : [email protected]

You can find the AHS database entries either directly from the AHS site (scroll down the left navigation bar on the home page for the database and then enter your search word/s) and also from the ATP database which includes links from ATP entries to the AHS entries.

@floota, thanks Julie. I'd made further enquiries and consequently both Debbie and Janice were informed two weeks ago, probably too soon for any corrections to have been made. I assume there'd need to be a committee discussion about 'Tetrina's Daughter' because the colour is right and the question is about form, although 'Magic Dawn' is obviously the wrong picture.

sooby = Thank you so much. And no, my Tetrina's Daughter is NOT a spider as shown in the AHS data base. I'm having camera problems lately, (old camera, new computer) but will post a photo when I can. I do like the way this daylily clumps - strong, very tall scapes that don't bend.

It is indeed a lovely, elegant daylily, Palmandan, fragrant too. I took another picture of mine, this time from the side. Presumably Fay may have published a picture of it somewhere, maybe in the AHS Journal of the time. I have some Journals from the 80's but not sure that I have any from the 70's but I will look.

Tetrina's Daughter is a favorite of mine. It is tall and fragrant and lovely. It looks
like lily daydreamers photo and sooby's, and also the ahs photo in the link from sooby.
