I really had become a little tired of having daylilies all over the place and --then-I went out into the part of my garden I call Eden after the fall-since it's all thorns and thistles and weeds, nettles, snakes, and deer eating things----and found--Ed Murray seedlings! My computer has been all messed up since I fell for a scam, but maybe I can post a photo!

Like your name. I don't have snakes but it seems the weeds are really bad this year from all the rain.

Rolling on the floor laughing Eden after the fall? That's great. I refer to my grounds keeping as the Ma and Pa Kettle school of landscaping!

The second of maybe a dozen Ed Murray X Saratoga Pinwheel has bloomed, one is a stem cracker as were the first I grew. The rains this year and last haven't helped-the scapes swell and burst. I think they are all tets but I am not certain I used tet Ed--I think not as it was a very old clump. I used Orchid Corsage one year and that was an even more difficult cross, I have only one plant from that but it set seeds from Wild Horses so I think it may be a tet. Have old photos of both EM X SP and OC. The one that bloomed today was 58 inches tall last year. Will try to post it first then X OC cross (old photo)
Thumb of 2015-07-08/Weedyseedy/80a9fa not the best but almost five feet

Thumb of 2015-07-08/Weedyseedy/2fe9c8 Thats better, now OC

Thumb of 2015-07-08/Weedyseedy/352ba0 not the best photo, but this one sets seed with Wild Horses

The daylilies continue to bloom in spite of the weeds; some old crosses of rosea that are yellow instead of pink, (I don't know why, both parents pink) more Ed Murray X Saratoga Pinwheel, one Ed Murray X Orchid Corsage that I think is a tet but can't be sure though I think it set seeds with Wild Horses---who knows. But the Summer is going a little better. Other than the car threatening to die, the old lady starting fast acting insulin and the weeds obscuring the house!

Those are good references to your gardens. We ask why the seedlings are so tall compared to their parents and why it looks like we have two totally different gardens. I say it is because you would not know they were there if they did't bloom 4 feet tall as that it the only way to see them above the grass and weeds. Our seedlings do quite well in our mess.

Why do I always pick daylilies that are difficult? All the pods fell off of Ed Murray, only four pods are on EM seedlings, one from a tet, one from a half sibling and one big fat unknown but it has to be either sib, half sib, or a tet so if I can keep organized I will grow them next Spring. A bunch of early red, eyes and stuff have deformed pods but I put their pollen on an early repeater one-if the thing didn't pollinate itself there may be a bunch of seeds. meanwhile my old striped one is blooming and fasciating (sp?) its blooms into sort of doubles. Eden after the fall is becoming impossible with brambles, thistles, nettles, bugs, and ten foot black berries.
