I've never ordered from Maryott's before, but couldn't pass up the specials they were having. Thought I'd share and show how generous they were with their bonuses! In addition to the 2015 cultivar Elegante, they also sent 4 other bonus plants!!

The ones slightly separated on the right are the bonus plants:

Great looking order and wonderful bonus plants!
With the heat wave keep them cool as you can, are you planning on potting them up till it gets cooler?

Regina - Wow! They sure did you right on the bonuses!!! Looks like you are going to have some beauties blooming next year (or maybe even this year if you get them potted up asap)! You never know when a scape might surprise you!

I actually have a bed right in front of my house that I put the new arrivals in if they come during summer, then I place them in their permanent places when it cools a bit. I've had great luck doing this before, so hope it works again. The bed gets a few hours of sunlight in the morning, then shade the rest of the day. We have a sprinkler system, so no need to hand water each day. The rest of our yard is mostly sun all day. The builder went nuts when clearing land for our house, so we're still waiting for our baby trees to grow up.
I haven't had as much luck with potting them up...I don't think I get the planting medium quite right. Plus I have to find room to put all the pots Smiling

Wow...you had a large order. I received my first order from Maryott's this week and I am impressed. The fans were huge and healthy looking. I ordered Bright in the Night, Kaanapali Coast, and Sailing at Dawn. They sent me two large bonus plants of Mineral Springs and Sign Language. The pots that I had planned were too small. I got larger pots and planted them immediately. I hope I get a bloom or two before fall. I am impressed with their communication and the size of their fans....size DOES matter nodding

I planted these on July 1, and several have bloomed, a few are blooming, and I keep finding new scrapes.

Maryott's plants acclimate better than the ones from Florida and near by states. I have many in pots from LA venders. They will winter in a cool greenhouse until May. That is safer for them.

In October, 2013, I received a very large order to eventually share and sell. This order had 165 double fans, with some more than double. I had the ground ready and I started planting them with alfalfa, and it took me three weeks because I was still working. I mowed, with a grass catcher, an abandoned lot under pine trees to use the needles for coverage. We had a very bad winter, but I did not lose even one plant.

Wow....I ordered back in July and I found a couple of scapes last week. I can't remember where I planted what, so I'm excited to see which ome it is. I'm waiting a few from LA...I won my first bids a few weeks ago.

Pat, many of mine have bloomed.
Duke Ellington, Raspberries in Cream, Dinner Talk, and Precious Candy have all bloomed or are currently blooming.

Lava Flow will bloom tomorrow; Glamoureyez, The Band Played On, New Paradigm, Bright in the Night, and Bluegrass Memories all have scapes and have plenty of time to bloom before the frost. It was still 92 degrees here today with unbelievable humidity!

I am a couple of hours from Stone Mountain...is it still really hot there also? If so, you will probably have blooms before it frosts as well.

Becky, it is still hot here in Stone Mountain....high 80s. It's not as humid as a few weeks ago. It's suppose to rain this weekend which always helps. I hope to get a few more blooms before the first frost.

Be sure to post pics of Bright in the Night, which I got and The Band Played On, which I'm considering getting.

Heidi, you will be happy. I had a small order of three plants and received two nice bonus plants. All were of two or three large fans. I placed my order late in the summer(middle of July), and I have a couple of scapes. I thought my bloom season was over. I'm excited to see which cultivars they are.

Lava Flow was blooming today. I had read about how bright this flower is, but seeing bloom in person lets me know that pictures don't do it justice. The color is amazing! First flower open on a newly added cultivar; it arrived and was planted directly into the garden bed on July 16th Smiling

My shots from this morning (7:15 a.m.) and from this evening (4:45 p.m.)...

Heidi, I knew you would be over the moon with your order. I'm placing a fall order with Maryott's next week. You got some great bonus fans.

Regina, Lava Flow is striking! I can't wait until my bud opens. I think I have at least another week before it opens. I pot planted mine for a few weeks before putting them in the ground, but I shouldn't have. They were more than big enough to hold their own.

So today when I really opened the box and got a good look at what I got, I was in awe and shock to realize that with 19 plants, this averaged out to $6.50 each with shipping included!

I also found a cute little prolif on the Daringly Different, so since it already a root started on it, I snipped it off and brought it in to continue rooting.

I received my Maryott's order on Thursday and potted up the plants on Friday after soaking the roots overnight -- and today I discovered 2 scapes, one of them almost a foot tall already! Wow! The plants with scapes are DESIGNER DRAMA and GOBBLEDEGOOK - and I placed this second order for the year so I could get a second plant of GOBBLEDEGOOK because I like it so much! And I also got a prolif with roots already developing on DESIGNER DRAMA. What's not to like about Maryott's?

Betty, my little Daringly Different prolif is going to town with now two awesome roots that are already over 1.5 inches long and the leaves look like they have doubled in size too.

One of my other plants from them also has a scape growing!

I have a lot of prolifs, some are pretty large, but i don't see any roots, can I just stick them in the ground, and keep them moist?

Thanks,
Gale
