I hope someone can help me out with this I'm not sure if I have done this right. My boss had some voodoo Lily seeds and I took it upon myself to plant them today. First I took all that orange stuff off of them and I didn't let them dry out I sowed them as soon as I took that orange stuff off. I took a picture so that you could see I did push the seeds in the potting mix to the first knuckle on my finger. I did about a hundred of them and I saved one seed pod just in case I did it wrong. Any suggestions would be helpful. And about how long will they take to germinate.

That might be planted a little deep, I don't think it'll hurt them dramatically but it might slow things down.
As far as time, just be patient!
They may start popping quick or not!
They might germinate at various rates, some emerging quickly and others taking much longer!

Do you know what species your dealing with?

@Swayback thanks for replying. I have no clue what species it is. I wish I would have taken pictures when it was blooming. They said it was a voodoo or a Devils tongue which I thought was the same plant just different common names. I know it grows outside all year and it goes dormant in the winter.

I almost forgot to ask will it grow true from seed?

It's likely to be sauromatum venosum then, your right, that names applied to many plants, mostly aroids, including amorphs.
Lots of them could be hardy in your area but venosum is quite common.

That seed head can probably tell us a lot! It looks yellow/orange, is that all the color it has?
How long was the stem on the seed pod?

Without knowing what plants are the parents then we really don't even know what "true from seed" might mean... You could have a new hybrid, all seeds have to potential to be genetically different than the parent, even if both parent plants are identical or even self pollinated!
That said, you'll end with nice plants, I'd say there's a good chance that atleast some will germinate and a low chance of them being a new hybrid, never know... Thats the glory of seeds!

The seed head was mainly orange there was a lot of yellow in there but I think it was unriped seeds. The stem was on the seed pod for at least a good month. Just as long as I get some to germinate I'll be happy no matter what kind they are

Depending on the type you might have/end up with a gigantic plant you cant fit into your house. Titan arums and some other voodoo lillies just get too big for the average joe to cultivate.

As far as I know, there's only a few that can really out grow an average ceiling, and they would not be hardy in Tennessee.
The tricky part for me isn't their size, but the fact that the Giants are tropical means they aren't ruled by the seasons!
It's not a big deal if you can just move the plant outside when it wakes up and in for the cold, like I do with konjacs, but when they decide they're gunna wake up on Xmas and grow to 10' in a few months... Well that can be an issue!

I think they are in fact under ripe sauromatum seeds, that's just based in these pics and the fact that it's a hardy plant, but there are several cold hardy aroids that could live there, and I'm certainly not able to ID them by their seeds!

One thing is for sure!
Seeds contain great genetic diversity!
For all anyone knows, there could be a seed there that grows into a 10' tall giant voodoo lily!
How awesome would that be!

That would be awesome. I figured if they germinate I will leave them in the greenhouse this winter. And then next winter put half outside and see how they do.

No signs of life... I have fished around for the seeds and they are just sitting there (stubbornly, I might add). They aren't doing anything, not growing and not rotting. It's been a month now shouldn't something happen. Shrug!

Aroid seeds can be slow to start try watering them to soften the seed coat.
