I only have one MTB which is Dividing Line. It bloomed for me this year and I really enjoyed it and gained an appreciation for them. What MTBs do you all grow and recommend?

(If anyone is digging theirs and needs to re-home a few, I would love to try them )

I just added dividing Line this year and I planted Holiday in Mexico last year. So I would like to hear comments on them too.

I absolutely love the MTB's! I have grown Dividing Line, Missus Bee, Wistful Wisteria, Preference and Zula for several years as well as Bumblebee Delight and Bangles. Last year I added Foxy Lass, Dessert Quail, Lasting Memory, Merit, Look Here, Siren and Pewee.

This year I have added Gracchus, Joseph's Coat Katkamier, Maggie Me Darlin, Peebee and Jay, Sari's Dance and Scrambled. I have several I received in trades and I am really looking forward to seeing them bloom also.

They are prolific bloomers and the tiny stalks disappear at a distance and the delicate blooms look like butterflies hovering over the plants. Some are quite tiny and some are more robust. I will have a few to divide next year but you will have to remind me. Every iris lover should grow at least one of these delicate and lovey irises.

I have several of the MTB's and SDB's etc. far too many to list anyway, if you want to take a gander, these are the ones that bloomed this year.

This MTB was my favorite, this year. It seemed to be a bit of a slow starter, as it was planted in '13, didn't bloom in '14...just made increases, but, as you can see...it really put on a show this year !

Tom, Still going through the thread that you linked. Those are some very nice iris. I saw a couple of posts that mentioned you selling iris. Is that true?

I agree with everything Bonnie said above! I have Bumblebee Deelite, Frosted Velvet and Tracking that I love. I have many on order this year, including Peebee & Jay, Dividing Line, and Redrock Princess. They do make nice clumps easily. Add to the garden in very pleasant ways.

Pee Bee & Jay has a buddy from the reverse cross Pixel Packin Mama. It is difficult to get hold of however. Moose Tracks & Little White Tiger were great at convention. John just replanted some of his Isabella Anna

It was probably more "pilot error", than "equipment failure", Lucy ! I'm still amazed at how much increase it makes !! What can you tell me about "Sprig Muslin's" growing habits ? I've added it this year.

Not sure of the technical definitions of all the medians I grow: I would have to say Delirium is highly recommended. I have never divided it but it is still blooming strongly in the same place. Lovesick Blues is lovely, but kind of tiny to make an impact.

Isabella Anna is very pretty! Does Winterberry carry it?

Definitely have Moose Tracks and Little White Tiger on my future buy list!

I'm not sure if they have it. We introduced it before they started doing our plants. Our first introducer had re tired. their catalog is downstairs & I will check when I can.

Arlyn: I am afraid that Sprig Muslin is a slow grower. You all have to read Georgette Heyer books for the name. Winterberry decided to carry it because they have some people liking MTBs.

Yes, Winterberry has "I A"......as well as several other "Burton" intro's, both yours, and John's .

I added quite a few medians last year, and another "batch" this year, and ,somehow, it doesn't 'figure" , as it gets harder for me to bend over...I'm planting shorter iris !

They don't work anymore, either, Lucy !! Maybe I should try 'raised beds".....about 4 feet "raised" !

I LOVE MTBs! Bonnie's description says perfectly why I love them so. I have some historics that I believe classify as MTB, but this year thanks to Bonnie and Arlyn I have Dividing Line and Elfin Shadows lovingly installed right at the entrance to the house where I'll see them every time I leave and come home- those babies got prime garden real estate!
