For me this year the blooms on this one are around 4.5” and the scape height is around 28”-32”. I didn't do a count yet but it is absolutely loaded with blooms. Quite sure it is a dormant. Guessing it is a tet but don’t know for sure. Purchased from Lowes a few years ago so I would suspect that it is a fairly common cultivar.

Since it is one of the few established plants that I have I set a few pods on it this summer. Would really like to know what this soon-to-be-parent is!

I’ve tried searching. Grumbling If I select the daylily database and do a search, it brings up search fields that are for all plants! Hilarious! By my count it brings up over 30 search fields that are completely useless for searching daylilies! Hilarious!

I can search for daylilies with a “Plant Habit” of “Tree”, or a “Fruiting Time” of “Year Round” Hilarious! . My favorite is “Miscellaneous” where I can select to search for daylilies that are “Carnivorous”! Rolling on the floor laughing

Even using the relevant fields, trying to identify one specific daylily is almost impossible. The “Flower Color” field (you checkmark the color you want to search for) is useless. For example, I did a search of “Foliage type: Dormant, Bloom Form: Single Flower, Color: Red” and got only 1 match! Hilarious!

I typed in “Red” to the “Color description” field and got thousands of results, so that is the field to use.

Of course I can’t know for sure what words are in the database for the color description field so I may not get some red flowers matched if they are described as “crimson”, for example.

Plus the color in the color description could be describing any part of the bloom, so if I’m looking for a daylily with a lavender self I could get all kinds of matches I don’t want-- like ones white ones with lavender midribs.

So can I search your minds-- does anyone recognize this daylily? Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

It sure does look like Entrapment, thanks! Thank You! Thumbs up

Bloom size is listed as 6" so I guess I can look forward to larger blooms in future years!

Oh no, its listed as a dip! I guess pods I set crossing with a tet will be aborting shortly. Oh well...

The color description is "blue purple self". I guess that is another way of describing lavender. I would NEVER have found that searching Hilarious! Hilarious!

Interesting. Maybe it is really finicky about soil? Well with all the blooms it sure does put on a show anyway!

For a plant I bought by "mistake" because it was mis-labeled I am really happy with it. I was going to compost it when I made my new planting beds this spring, but changed my mind and I'm glad I did. It's a keeper!

I'm curious @Natalie how large are Entrapment blooms for you? They actually make it to 6" in that Idaho soil?

Dennis, what are the chances? I just posted a picture of Entrapment today. It's available at our local nursery, so I imagine that it's common enough that it could be at some Lowe's. Smiling

You've discovered what I've had difficulties with, too. I don't think most people realize that there are two different fields in the database relating to flower color. One is simply a description, the other is used to establish color for use in search results. Most daylilies in the database don't appear to have the second (searchable) color field filled out. This was something I have addressed in other threads and wanted to work on. So far, I've only updated this for one cultivar ("So Many Stars"), but I hope to update many more in the future to help people who are doing searches.

Anyway, I'm glad your question seems to have been answered and your little NOID appears to have an identification now. Hurray!

@Dennis, @DogsNDaylilies
Try this: Go to the "Daylily Data Base", type in the name of a cultivar you want to find.
Then notice at the top just below where it says who has and who wants the plant, it will say "Data specific to Daylilies (Edit)" That block of questions will pertain to daylilies. So if you will limit your searches to just the items in that block when you go back to the "Search by characteristics (height, bloom color, etc)" you should get results much more related to just daylilies.

Dennis, I've never measured them, but I don't think they are 6 inches, either here, or where they were originally, which was Utah. I don't think I have any blooms left either. I'll check later.

@Dennis616

Dennis, you asked on the perfect day, since today's bloom is the last one! It measured 3 3/4". Since it is the last bloom, it may be a little smaller than the others were, but I'm pretty sure that it has never bloomed at its registered size. I haven't checked the height on it, so I don't know if that is accurate or not.
