I have a whole slew of new dahlias blooming. It just no longer seemed appropriate to post them in the "First Bloom" Thread.

Blizzard - and no bug bites - amazing!

All are so pretty. I bought River's Novelty and hope mine is as nice as yours.

Is Rock Star a 3' plant or shorter?

Rock Star is unexpectedly tall, closer to 5 and a half foot. Most dahlias are a bit taller in my yard due to only 6-7 hours of sun, but that one is in one of the sunnier beds. Nettie is the shortest of the plants pictured, at about 3 ft.

Except for the Fire Magic, all of these are new for me this year, so its extra exciting to see them bloom!

I have been very remiss. Apologies. Annette, Kelvin Floodlight is HUGE!! Thank you so much. I will get out tomorrow and take pictures and actually post them. Damien is on Day 3 of recuperation from his fourth surgery since December. All fairly minor. This one is the second repair on his shoulder.

Here is another slew of new blooms. It seems like the balls and FD's are all opening up at once. When I first started with dahlias they were my least favorite, but they have grown on me.

Cornel

Felinda Ornament

Mardi Gras - really intense color that is hard for the camera to get Click on it.

Roban Royal

Rock Run Mae

Sharkey

Excentric (I may have posted this one already, but this is the best bloom so far)

Hollyhill Starburst - the form should get better as the bloom matures.

Karen Kuhn

Kyli-Bug (plant looks virused, and at leaf the first bloom isn't nearly as good as last year)
Thumb of 2015-08-07/mandolls/608c82

Ferncliff Copper

Pinelands Princess - Ridiculously short plant this year, normally 5 ft, barely 3 ft this year so far

Who Dun It - a new favorite

Pink Issa has by far the most blooms

I agree Great photos and gorgeous blooms! Really love that Rockstar and Mexico! I have yet to grow this type of dahlia. Didn't know that they look really nice. Love you Pinelands Princess, Geof. I am so glad I got PP and Snoho Storm from you. They are so beautiful!

@kousa - Karen glad to hear they are doing well for you. My Snoho Storm hasn't bloomed yet, but there are buds, so it shouldn't be long.

I am loving Rock Star - and Mary's pic of Mexico sent it to my want list for next year. The only anemone dahlia I had grown before is Lucky Ducky, which does really well for me, but the petals don't fold back in the same way. Rock Star really does remind me of David Bowie's red/orange mullet in the early 70's.

A few more opened yesterday but it rained on and off all day and my back went wacko on me (actually bought a back brace which works really well). Much better today so will try to get pics today. It is overcast and really yukky but we couldn't expect ( nor want sun and no rain all the time). Hilarious! Not good for the plants. I have never had more lovely day lilies ever.

Giraffe - an interesting little novelty dahlia. The plant is a little wimpy, but that may be because it is shaded out by bigger dahlias

Gaylen Rose

Kenora Lisa - some how I planted 3 of these, and I am glad I did!

Jessie G - a really nice deep purple, I wish the camera captured it correctly

Hot Tamale - another one that is difficult to photograph

Glen Place - little dark dark purple Pom

Red Hat

Great photos, Geof. They're all beautiful but Kenora Lisa is exceptional.

Giraffe, for me, is a screaming orange both this year and last year.
