I'm just putting this up in case someone is interested in a bit more unusual lilies. The thought is that it would be a useful resource. Although naturally not available for every member (because of shipping and import/export restrictions) it can still be nice to look at some good pictures. So please add to this list what you find interesting regardless of which corner of the world you may be in

Guntis Grants only ships within E.U., but apparently sometimes makes exceptions for hybridizing. In any case Guntis Grants has some really nice lilies that are well worth checking out, just for the pleasure of viewing. For the descriptions of the cultivars, most would find it useful to use Google Translate or similar as they are in Latvian.

Guntis Grants is a generous contributor of seeds to the North American Lily Society seed exchange as well. I have about 15 Div. VI Trumpet code numbers of his that will maiden bloom next year. A truly wonderful person with an encyclopedic mind of lilium growing knowledge.

I visited him and his wife in 2011. It was late in the afternoon and I didn't have time to see all of his lilies. I can't say why but I didn't took a single picture. I have some of his hybrids and also a few from some of his friends hybrids too.

Brian Bergman , a Canadian lily grower have many exiting and unusual hybrids for sale. He's on Facebook and it's possible to contact him there.

We could add Faraway Flowers to this list, too. Of particular interest, this coming Sunday, August 16th, at 6pm EDT, Ramona (the owner) will be holding a special annual sales event on Brian Bergman lily hybrids exclusively. It is in the form of a live auction except the price is set. (Example: Hybrid XX, 18 available, $5.50 ea. ) Prices are usually very reasonable and quantities can be very limited. They go fast so you have to pay close attention what she puts up and be quick at the same time. These hybrids are only available through Ramona or Brian and will be fresh dug for planting this Fall. William, I should have specified that it's too late for the Seller to ship this year's production. Anyway, I did enjoy looking at his beautiful Liliums and, since he offers a Phytosanitary Certificate, I will check if I can order some next year.

I do hope that you are allowed to import lilies into your country. Regulations can be so tricky sometimes . And of course there is the additional difficulties with adapting the growth cycle of the lilies to the southern hemisphere.

There still remains a big problem. I don't know if it is our local postal service being extremely slow shipping and locally distributing international mail, but my experience for the last year has been that an airmail letter to Australia or USA takes 6 or more weeks. The same applies to incoming mail. I would not want Lily bulbs to be either in transit or in a warehouse for 6 or more weeks.

Stop? I can't stop Actually usually you use a courier for all but the smallest international shipments. This should go very quick, within a week or so I would think. Perhaps a bit more, depending on the courier and the chosen service. Preferable the sender should supply you with a tracking number so you can monitor the whereabouts of the shipment the whole time. Sometimes there can be a change between couriers when goods cross borders, so it wont be delivered in the way you think. I'd check local forums and so on for how well the various courier services work in Chile, so you know what to expect. Hold up in customs would be the main concern...

Of course this is all very theoretical as customs will for sure confiscate any goods that aren't allowed into the country so one must be absolutely sure it's OK and one must have all permits and so on that may be needed. Simply having a phyto may not be enough.

To be honest, I did not think about Couriers - so far all I have smuggled in/out - I mean 'exported/imported' is seeds, via regular post.

I will check the SAG web page (depends on the Ministry of Agriculture), responsible/guilty for the restrictions before I order anything.

Previously I had no personal experience in ordering from him, but now I'm happy to be able to recommend his lilies to anyone. I received a package today and the quality was nothing short of superb and he also had included some generous bonuses.

I think most folks here is at least as crazy about lilies as I am and for me it's perfectly normal to look at what's comes from US or Australia or indeed any other place in the world, although I most likely never will be able to buy those cultivars. So... please do add anything that comes to mind to this thread!
