Is this familiar?

Looks like a Jovibarba missing a lot of side leaves around the rosette.

I have some better pics. Anybody have any more hints.

I finally got an I.D. from someone. They think it is

Crassla Capitella Thysifora

Leaves turn maroon if not over-watered. Spreads quickly. As with most ground hugging crassulas, it deteriorates after flowering and young shoots soon take the place of the older plants. - See more at:

It looks like my campfire but it is purple instead of red.

I had a Campfire. Does look close. It kept loosing it's roots to rot and top would re-root. Finially it did run out of life and couldn't re-root. Glad it died and gave me more room for some thing else. I get mad at stuff that I try and try to grow and it just will not. Most of my other Jades are in similar hollow grounds. Was growing fine. Water them after two months and leaves started to drop. Spring came and took out side. Growing great. Wind blew window box off railing and smashed up the plants to bits. Kept base warm and dry and now regrowing to about 1-2 inches high. Big deal. Not going thru that again. My variegated Hobbit came back without any variegation. How do you loose variegation by stems being broken off main trunk. It was not grafted so I am confused. All the pieces got thrown out with some of the soil. Happened when I was not home at the time. Looked like some one took the hedge cutters to them.

Stush I had the same problem with keeping campfire alive. I am amazed at this one that it is growing like crazy now for two years and I now have it in a couple of pots. You know I like to do combo pots and the color is a good boost to a combo pot when I want a lot of color.

What I did last year is when it flowered I rooted all the leaves on the flowering stem and I scattered the seeds from the flower on the soil and now I have a lot of them.

What happened to your Variegated plant is they are weak. If they are damaged the green takes over. I cannot let any of my variegated plants suffer like any of the other colors. Our climate does not permit plants to grow outside long enough to get the strength of the sun and outdoor conditions they need. They really have to be babied.

I used to have Campfire too, but never in that color, looks like your plant needs a bit more light, ..sadly I lost my plant I think due to my wrong positioning of the plant, got too dried out/burnt in our hot conditions here, should have maintained it at part sun-shade, and wrong repot timing. But it actively grew here outdoors when it was late Fall to mid Spring when our temps were cool.

Repotted on April 17, 2012 and sadly it declined henceforth..it was getting warmer already and I guess my timing in repot was wrong, it seems it slows down when temps goes warm, like most crassulas often do. But it was a lovely plant, I miss it.

Tarev. This one is suppose to be purple. Check the link. I have campfire and it is red now. My campfire seems to get its red color this time of the year. August is our hottest time of the summer

Maybe it reacts differently in certain areas. In my area, as with my other crassulas, they get their pinkish hues when our conditions are cooler in winter to early Spring. All stays green when it is warm and very dry here.

Yes we get warm and humid vs dry most years. This year we are having a drought this August. Maybe it is the moisture we usually have heat and moist humid air this time of year. My Campfire is late with its red it just started about 2 weeks ago.

Maybe my new one will get more purple now that the campfire is getting its red on.

Yup, maybe that's it, the reaction to humidity..we get better humidity in late Fall to mid Spring..our typical rainy season, so it gets rosy that time.
