I guess it's a sign of true obsession , but I have started planning NEXT years orders ! I still have several boxes to arrive, and, assuming they are like most of the orders already received.....there will be at least one, or two iris that were "deleted" for one reason, or another. I already have about a dozen on next year's list, that I *thought* I had ....only to find that they couldn't be delivered. Then there are the ones I "couldn't find" this year....so every catalog will be scanned to try to locate those, and......I definitely will add a few more 'Indians', if I see them, and there are a few rebloomers that I want.
Still a few DM winners that I'm missing, and some Hedgecock, Tasco, and Burton cultivars I want to add, as well.
I ordered quite a few more, this year, than I had planned on, but, I still have some bed space left, and, even though I *culled* some iris that "just weren't me" from the beds, this year.....there are still a few that will be saying ,'Bye Bye", and , there are some that were planted THIS year (bonus iris, extras, etc.) that will, unless they REALLY surprise me, will be 'short term" in my beds, as well !

yes, I am planning on trying to find the ones that were subbed by vendors this year and I will try to find ones on my shrinking old wants lists. I want to add some Burton's too, both Lucy's and John's, and I want to add the one hybridized by Carl's wife. I have a few shares that will be for next year and that will help narrow my wants list. I am going to make one more bed this fall to hold more irises. I want a few more luminatas for that bed and I am always looking for the little guys. I want a couple of AB's that I missed this year too. I feel much more organized shopping from my wants lists but then someone will post a photo of one that just takes my fancy and I am off on another search.

I have only pondered the question for a moment, and I am sure somethin' perty will tempt me, but I am thinking to concentrate more on soil and leaf spot prevention and less on more acquisitions. I would like to keep space ready for seedlings, have good ground and be disease free. If I add anything, it might be Siberians that repeat bloom.

For now, I am composting, mulching and using safe garden treatments - Actinovate and Serenade.

I have solarized a large area to add as more veggie garden space, as I keep encroaching on my regular veggie garden to plant these seedlings. I'm going to have to take another 6 foot width, and full length to plant seedlings and others that I want to relocate. I'm expecting last years seedlings to mostly bloom, so if that happens, there should be many that get axed, and that will make some more space. I am enlarging my historic bed a bit so that I can move the rest of the historics that I have in other places to that bed. Of course I have my eyes on a couple historics to add next year. One of my plum trees died, and I'm not replacing it, so that leaves a nice spot to enlarge another bed by about 8 feet by 8 feet. That will be space for some new acquisitions for next year. I am going to focus mostly on new(er) introductions again next year. I did do some culling this year of some that like Arlyn said, "Just weren't me" but I managed to find homes for all of them so none had to go to the compost pile.

I'm not anxious to add any more to my thirsty garden. There's gotta be some rain first!

Yeah, even in Maine where the lakes and rivers still have plenty of water, I am standing outside with the hose for almost an hour watering trees and gardens.

My neighbor is right. We should dig a well just for watering.

Hoping all those new ones/ones planted last year that didn't bloom for me will do so next year so I, too, can cull those that aren't me and free up room. Have shares coming next year, and looking to order Spurias mostly. Probably will be pretty much just trades and for-postage for awhile, though. My traveling friend and I decided we have one more trip in us and I have to save my pennies and nickels for 2018.

I'm planning to make a couple more iris beds this fall. I do plan on adding new (to me at least) irises next year and I have a bed that will need to be dug and divided after bloom season. (Trades anyone? )

At some point, I will thin purple selfs down to one each, except that glorious velvety noID.

I can't think about next year.....I'm, still trying to figure out where to plant all the ones from this year.

I am soooo in the same boat as Rob! I will be building at least a couple beds over the winter. One for more Japanese I am planning on. One to fit the rest of the iris I have. Hopefully with some room left for next year's temptations?!!

We have plenty of Rain here, so yeah, I'm planning my Wish List for Next Year. . . . .
I have quite a lengthy list of Historic rhizomes I want for next year.
and
I've found the sources for all of those items on my Wish List, so I know just where to shop to
get'em, so I figure I'll be submitting my Orders in January.

I've added about 200 tb irises this year. I think I'll take a break next year!

I refuse to think about next year's acquisitions (except of our swaps, Leslie ) I'm still dealing with the hundred or so that I adamantly refused to even consider this year -- and which managed to find their way to my front porch and my Iris beds this year anyway.

I can say I'm not going to get anymore next year, but who's kidding who.
I'm truly addicted and the only way I won't get anymore iris next year is to stop viewing all the gorgeous photographs that everyone posts.

But that would be unduly torturing yourself Barbara! Just think how many you might buy if you didn't have our photos, and had to wait to see them all bloom in your own garden.... The pictures are there so you can enjoy the blooms without owning the bloom ..... (Who am I kidding???)

But if they are gorgeous in YOUR garden then I want them in MY garden too. I think my "problem" is if I buy them this year the sooner they will form a clump which equals beauty!
