To tell you the truth, I wasn't all that impressed with it. I got it as a bonus. It could be that there were so many more interesting things gong on at the time that I didn't appreciate it in comparison to them. If I decide next year to give it the "boot" I'll keep you in mind. I have some others in that dark purple color range that I liked better like Hollywood Nights.

I don't like it when iris have creepy names. I have passed over some pretty iris because of it. I certainly don't want demonic name tags in my garden. Sighing!

I agree I planted, but don't like the name of "Sordid Lives". Anyone else have some names that bother you?

yes. I don't want Demonic in my garden. I have Devil's Night but don't like the name and I may not keep it. I don't mind elves, trolls and witches because those are things of fairy tales but Demonic? ...... no thanks. I think we have talked about iris names that were disturbing before and most growers do not mind them but I do.

I've never been one to be superstitious. The poor flower can't help it if it's originator gave it a cultish name. It's just a flower. It doesn't have any supernatural power on either end of the spectrum. Shrug!

I like this thread with the dark ones on it. I only have Fade to Black that is really dark. I don't care for the demonic names either, on any of my plants. Just gives me the creepies. That is probably not a word but you know what I mean.

Teressa, creepies is a word. I use it all the time. Hilarious!

I have Devil May Care. I kind of like the name.

Yes, I agree, Devil May Care is ok. That phrase has been used enough to make it ok. The topic this thread has evolved into really does make me laugh out loud. I suppose my predilection, or the lack thereof, for names and phrases has to do with my age, beliefs, superstitions, etc. Pay me no mind. LOL

I'm glad I'm not bothered by plants with "devil" in the name.. I'd never be able to have many of the plants that give me joy.

Jan, are you familiar with the comedy movie and series Sordid Lives? I'm pretty sure that's where the name comes from.

The names mentioned above don't bother me, but there have been some plants named for celebrities or politicians I don't like that I just couldn't bear to purchase (more roses than irises there though...).
