I also have a pot ghetto. I always have to explain why so many plants are in pots.
I am glad that you brought this up.

I have one, too. I have it near my laneway. That way, when l have visitors, l can try to send them home with one of my 'extras'. My daughter left with a daylily and an iris on Sunday . Smiling

Gerry: Mine will only increase, I'm afraid. I have many plants needing division. Ran out of pots and am now using gallon milk jugs!

Thank you, Angie. Wylie and Monty (the Schipperkes) are spoiled and fussed over. Now, I have to teach them to help me garden.

Blinking Wow Gerry that is a lot of pots! And you are in a cold zone too. I have a few pots that collect on the deck...I have to walk by to get inside so it's the only place I have where I remember to water them Whistling . Come fall I start looking around wondering what to do with the plants for winter, I would not even know where to begin with all of yours!

I love it! I have an out- of-the-way garden area that looks just like it! Mine has more sun coleus rootings though. I have so many of those that I can't find anyone to take any more! Too bad they don't winter over here...but hoping I can save a few in the new greenhouse Smiling

We have a new teacher at our school this year from Romania. I loaded her up with plants a few weeks ago. Don't you just love spreading all the blooms and making someone smile at the same time?

I do have some DL seedlings that I just sprouted by my garage entrance too Smiling they are going in the greenhouse about mid- October.

Boy! I don't feel so bad after seeing everyone's pots! I am in the process of moving seedlings from a bed next to my Oak tree to pots until I can complete a new raised bed. I couldn't even remove all the seedlings because I don't have enough available pots or containers to move them to! So I have pots lined up and just added 11 more recently because I received some registered daylilies from Susan's box full of daylilies sale in Classifieds.

I am also using those long rectangular planters:
Thumb of 2015-09-02/beckygardener/84bbf5

A row of rectangular planters. You can see the daylily seedling bed under the Oak tree where half the plants have been removed and half are still in that bed.

Thumb of 2015-09-02/beckygardener/591226

Here are some more daylilies in nursery pots until I can get them planted into the new raised bed:

Thumb of 2015-09-02/beckygardener/449d7f

This is a smaller new raised bed for some more of the daylilies, but these daylilies are currently just sitting in pots until I decide where I am planting which daylily plants. You can see space in-between the pots in this photo, but that is no more .... I just added 11 more pots to that little raised bed! Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

All of you make me feel so much better knowing I am not alone! Like you, Becky, most of mine are DLs I rescued from our former property
and am trying to decide where to put them here. I need to make new beds and it's so dang hot, I can't even think of tackling that project
yet! I finally got the irises cleaned and separated and out of the bags yesterday, but they need to go into pots and I've run out. I'm now
using 2-liter soda bottles in addition to the gallon milk jugs for pots; I've put some in long concrete planters the former owner left here and
I hang out at Lowe's garden shop so much they probably think I'm casing the joint!!! I made a trip yesterday to get more garden soil, mulch
and a bigger pot for my rex begonia, which is getting huge and will need to move inside for the winter. Will probably make at least one more
trip to Lowe's this week for supplies. I'll take an updated photo once all these babies are in pots, but it won't rival yours, Gerry. You win!

Yes, I think Gerry beats even Ashton with all his potted (in cups?) seedlings!

How do you keep them all watered? That is my question. I've been on a mission to get everything in the ground except a few plants that HAVE to be in pots because of my root knot nematode situation. I think I need to STOP rooting cuttings on some of my plants. I did that for several years to add more plants to my once bare yard. But my yard is filling up fast and old habits are hard to break! Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

Angie, it is funny that you said "you win."

The potted plants fall under the following categories:
1. Potted daylilies will winter in a cool greenhouse to complete the acclimation process. I do not lose any through this process. I started preparing them to go in the greenhouse by cutting them way back, and spraying a systemic and a fungicide. These will be sprayed again later in the greenhouse.
2. Newly arrived tissue culture hostas also will winter in the cool greenhouse. There are 20 Hudson Bay and 20 Brother Stefan. First year TC hostas may not freeze.
3. Other potted hostas, over 1000, will be placed in heavy duty plastic bags after plants are dormant. Last winter I had about 2000 TC hostas in the cool greenhouse. Many were planted or sold, but many have to wait until next summer.
4. Tender plants that will either winter in the house or will winter in the cool greenhouse.

Dot - WOW! That is totally impressive! Having them grow in large pots makes it so much more easy to move them around if they are unhappy in their lighting location. How do you water all of them though? That would be my biggest challenge of growing so many in containers.

I always have some kind of pot ghetto going on. This year my tomato plants never got transplanted, stayed in pots. My prolifs are still in pots - hope they survive the winter! And my herbs - yeppers, in pots
