It's all mixed up together from different tree peonys. Peony seeds they don't seed true to the verity, only the Rockii verity do. So it's like a surprised, 4 years later I will find out what type of beauty they are.
This is my first year to try seed them myself, as you can see in the pictures that's all I got , may be next year I can share some with you, and you can check out www.treepeony.com Cricket hill garden have a good selection of different types of peony seeds for sale.

Mine are still green and don't show any sign of changing anytime soon---weird season. And the only tree peony that even has pods is Phoenix White, a poor seed year for sure. I mentioned it in another thread but thought I'd share again--Brooks Gardens is offering free peony seeds with any order, just have to request it in the comments when you order or email them if you've already placed one for the year. First come, first served so place your request quick!

I took the seed pod off of one of my noid yellow tree peonies today. The seeds don't look like the ones Yan posted above. I wonder if mine are viable?

Anyone have suggestions about how to start them?

I have one white tree peony that I notice had large blk seeds yesterday. I have never planted them before. Could someone give me a clue on what I should do now? Thanks

Thanks for the link Yan! I'll check my other seed pods once they open to see if I have any viable seeds. The ones posted above didn't look viable Sad

I got seed from Roy Pehrson's Best Yellow and Pink Joy on Friday. I'm keeping an eye on several others that have pods that look good but are still green and haven't started to open....

This has been a crazy year for seed for me. A lot of established peonies that normally put out what looks to be viable seed put out non-viable looking instead while a few new peonies that only had a couple of blooms put out an amazing amount of good looking seed for the number of blooms. I still have pods on at least 40 plants that are still green, don't look like they're opening soon at all. Don't know if they'll make it before our first frost..

Lots of tree peony seeds here! I cut off my herbaceous peony after bloom to save plant energy but I never seem to want to do the same with the tree peonies.

I'm a seeds starter, and patience is required but I sure love it😊

I want to try start TP from seeds too, but I don't have much patience, take it 4-5 years to blooms.

I still have green pods on quite a few of my peonies. They are ripening so much slower this year than past, maybe because we had such a wet summer? They're looking pretty ragged but a lot of peonies haven't died back yet, either. Just got seed from Cheddar Royale and Alexander Flemming yesterday, we'll see what else makes it. The only tree peonies that have pods are the Phoenix White, already have seedlings of that one so won't be doing anything with the seed, if it makes it to maturity.

The time goes by faster than you think is what I can say. There is something about deliberately starting something from seed that is intriguing to me. Yes, it takes patience but there is nothing like a reward as unique as a bloom.

Thanks Liz.

And starting a seed today makes you that much closer to a flowering plant. Lots of things you did 4 or 5 years ago seem like "just yesterday". So why not? Especially if you have seed on hand. You would be out nothing if you failed, but when you succeed, ahhhhh, that is when you'll be glad you did.

Tracey and Liz, I'm glad you both are getting some nice seeds this year. None of my seeds were viable this year. Hopefully, I'll get some good ones next year.

Tracey, please share how your going to start your seeds, and how they do over time.
