None of the ones I planted outside last fall sprouted, so I am happy 20 out of 24 inside ones did. They work better if one leaves them in a wet paper towel and a baggie for a few months in the fridge and then slip the outer husk off the seed before planting. I used a plug flat. The outside ones may still pop up another year, but from now on I am doing the inside kind.

I have more seeds of various kinds in the fridge again.

This is the Japanese iris that I used to get my new seeds. It looks like Graciuse. Two of the pods look like they mixed with Caesar's Brother.

The 19 seedlings I had in a plug flat faded and died. The first seedling in a yogurt container in a sunny window is doing great. I ordered more seeds from Japan. I will follow the small yogurt cup/sunny window routine. Smiling

Not the usual Japanese form, but an intriguing looking iris nonetheless. Thumbs up

Today I got out some of the refrigerator seeds and planted them. Included are some Gracieuse JI x themselves and some mixed with Caesar's Bro. sibs or not; some pink and white lily crosses. All are labeled and planted in Happy Frog, Humboldt Nation dirt mixed with vermiculite.

Newly added to the refrigerator soaking seeds are some off a Blue Moon Sib cross, Arlyn's and Mary Ann's Bright Hour look alike bee pod seeds, and more Gracieuse bee pod seeds.

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!
Today I saw the first of my crosses - just peeking up!
It was my first foray into hybridizing and I didn't have a whole
lot of blooms to choose from - it's a relatively young iris garden,
but I'm excited to see what I got! (whenever it blooms. )

Oh wait! I just checked my notes...That's All Folks made the seed pod -
Coffee Shop provided the pollen!!
I corrected my mistakes.
I'm stoked to see the green shoots!

New seedlings are exciting! Thumbs up

No iris seedlings here yet (hopefully a few later this year), but right now I have the first of my daylily babies peeking up in their pots. (They were sown in ten 4" pots full of Miracle Gro organic potting mix, which was pre-wetted with boiling water. I am hoping no fungus gnats this year! Glare )
Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom

Some of my seedlings will be two years old this spring/summer. I am hoping for some bloom in 2017.

They leaves look big enough but the little rhizome needs to develop more to make a bloom.... I think. I may feed them for roots instead of blooms. Shrug!

That is where I bought mine. I don't sell seeds very often. If I do, they will probably be veggie or flower seeds that don't require special treatment.
