We will be finishing up our very first list of Daylily of the Day cultivars the middle of November, so thought it was time to start the next poll.

We are going to change the rules slightly with this new poll. We would like gardeners to please pick cultivars that they OWN, that also list several other owners (at least 3 members that have the cultivar) as "have" in the database so that more members here on ATP can post their evaluations. The more members that own a plant, the better (to have numerous evaluations). Please also make sure that you post the correct name and spelling of the cultivars you list. You can list up to 10 cultivars that you actually own and are willing to post an evaluation for when the cultivar is featured as the Daylily of the Day.

And don't forget that you can post an evaluation at any time to any of the Daylily of the Day threads. An acorn will be awarded for each evaluation. You can post annual evaluations of any cultivars at least a year after your previous evaluation of that cultivar. (And earn another acorn tip!) Previous featured Daylilies of the Day cultivar threads can be found in this forum:
http://garden.org/forums/view/...

Let the next list of cultivars begin .....

I believe this is the complete list. (Hopefully, I didn't miss any and some are in the queue to be featured.) Some won't be featured because there are no photos in the database and no one "have" that cultivar. The one featured today should probably not been featured as there are no photos anywhere of it and no one is listed as "have" it.

If you have any of these cultivars and have not posted an evaluation yet, you may do so at any time!

The more popular a cultivar, the better!!! Thumbs up

Steve - Rose F. Kennedy has already been featured. I would love to have you post your evaluation on this thread:

The thread "Daylily of the Day - Rose F. Kennedy" in Plants of the Day forum

And unfortunately as beautiful as your list of cultivars is, all the rest that you listed show either no one "have" them or only 1 or 2 members have any of them. Check the database for each cultivar to see how I derived at that conclusion.

The reason I would like the Daylily of the Day featured cultivars to "have" at least 3 owners is so that we actually have some evaluations of that particular daylily. If no one has them or only 1 person has it, that thread will only have none or only a single evaluation. I would prefer that members list cultivars that are owned by several people so that the thread has numerous evaluations about the daylily.

Elena - That is a great list! Many of members own those cultivars! Thumbs up

0 for 10, LOL

I was correct in my feeling confused! I will give it another try this afternoon. So I need to 1) pick something that hasn't been picked, but 2) pick something that enough people own.

We could call my previous list: things you don't own, but Steve says you should.

Steve - I think you have the general idea now. Thumbs up Over time, should more members own any of those wonderful cultivars that you mentioned in your first post, you can always suggest them again. Often the newer cultivars are not owned by many until the prices comes down.

Well, I lost about half of the cultivars I wanted to list to the requirement of 3 others saying they own it, and that's too bad. I have almost 800 cultivars, and I've never indicated that I own any -- sorry, but I'm just not into making plant lists here in ATP. But I did find quite a few that had at least three others who indicated they had them.

Maybe at some point in the future more newer varieties could be considered even if they don't show the required three owners. I think that could also be very informative.

Betty - I saw one on your list that I left off the first poll list. Thanks! I may have missed one or two others but recognize them when someone lists them on the second poll. If you would, please post your evaluation of Carnival in Mexico to this thread:

The thread "Daylilies of the Day: Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Carnival in Mexico')" in Plants of the Day forum

My thinking about newer cultivars is that they are probably excellent daylilies, but if only 1 person leaves a review about them it really is not enough. We need several reviews/evaluations of each cultivar. Jon and I found several that were listed on the first poll that had few or no evaluations posted at all. So we are trying to avoid that happening again with this second poll. So I hope everyone understands and I hope that a year from now we CAN add those newer ones to be featured once more members acquire them!

I was too busy earlier to leave any reviews on some of the others on the first poll that I have. I'm hoping when garden cleanup is about finished I will try to go through and leave reviews on some, or at least check to make sure that several others made reviews/evaluations on the ones I have. Maybe others will as well, since winter can be a slower time.

Yes, please! That would be awesome if members could go through the Daylily of the Day threads to leave evaluations on any of the cultivars that have been featured from the first poll. It really is very helpful to anyone looking for information about these cultivars.
