New bulbs are ordered and on the way. I ordered 14 this year, which included 2 repeats. On Oct 2nd, my first bulb arrived from WFF, the Hadeco white, Intokazi. Pots are washed, bags of fresh soil, eagerly waiting for the rest from WFF and Royal Colors. Best wishes for healthy and correctly labelled bulbs, and a wonderful blooming season for all Hippeastrum lovers. Thumbs up

I didn't order any bulbs this year, I may buy one or two at the nursery. Thursday I trimmed the leaves and put my collection in the cool mudroom in a dark cabinet as usual for their rest period. I had stopped watering them in August and several of them still had a few green leaves, they can certainty live under drought conditions.

I forget exactly what I ordered, but I think I ordered 'Samba' for me and 'Double Picotee' for MIL.

Margaret, I stopped watering my indoor plants in August too and they still have green leaves. My outdoor plants get water all year. They don't seem to need a dormancy.

Margaret, can't believe you didn't order any new ones this year. Maybe you'll adopt an "orphan" one at the nursery or grocery. Two of my favorite peach ones are Peach Melba and Rilona. One of the problems with Amaryllis is they come and go so quickly out of the marketplace. You find one you like, then never see it for sale again. Kelli, in the deep South, they really don't go truly dormant. The leaves may get yellowed and a bit "worn out" looking, and new leaves and scapes will poke up as soon as day length increases again. The bulb has so much moisture in it, it can take a long "drought" before the leaves finally die. I'm in zone 9a, We get a few frosts in mid winter. First time temperatures stay below freezing for 12 hours, the leaves wilt. That is the dormancy: Very quick, and new growth starts mid Feb. I hope you post a photo of the Double Picotee when its in bloom. That's one that I haven't seen.

Barbara, here is my 'Double Picotee'. I won't see MIL's. She lives in El Paso.

It turns pinkish when past its peak.

Barbara, I didn't order more because of space on my window sill, and it is such pain here in the winter, it gets really cold so I have to move them to the dining room table at night because it is so cold, then back to the window in the morning. Thanks for those suggestions, they are both lovely. Lovey dubby

'Exotica' is a nice light peach colored one. The thin white edge doesn't show in the photo.

Kelli; That Double Picotee is really pretty, I like how it gets pinker with age. I'm going keep my eye out for this one to add to my collection. Exotica is another nice peach colored cultivar.

Got another 'Double Picotee' blooming outside again. I didn't take pictures because I'm not feeling well but it looks just like the pictures I posted above.

This is my first new bulb of the season, Intokazi, the white Hadeco bulb from White Flower Farms. Its prettier in person, in the sun the blooms look as if they are sprinkled with fairy dust. This bulb arrived at the end of Sept. Non of the other bulbs have come yet. It has been so warm this fall, that I planted the bulb outside when the blooms were done. The later bulbs will stay in the sunroom until mid Feb.
