I have finished a huge amount of the backend work that needed to be done to proceed, and I'm ready for all the beta testers to actually use the system to officially join the beta swap. Here is what you must now do:

Go to the main Swap page:

http://garden.org/apps/swap/

You will see the Beta First Swap entry listed on that page. Click on its name.

You'll then see all the details of this swap. Scroll to the bottom and click on "Join This Swap" and then confirm the action.

Once you're done, proceed to return to that swap's page, and at the top you'll see a new option that says, "Manage your swap list" - click on that.

That will take you over to your main swap list that you've already set up. You'll notice now there's a new column: "Swap #1" and there are grey checkboxes all the way down the list.

For each item that you want to make available to this specific swap, click the icon and it will turn green. That's all you have to do - the change is saved automatically.

Go down the page and enable each item.

Why do it this way? This is so you can maintain a full list, and one a swap-by-swap basis you can decide which seeds to offer. So if someone makes a Tomatoes-Only swap in the future, you can join their swap and then check off the box for just the tomatoes.

If you are a member of multiple swaps occurring at the same time, there will be separate columns for each swap you're a part of.

Ok, check it out and let me know if any of ya'll run into problems.

@Dave, as a mobile user I can't see any grey buttons to push in my seed list. Help! Otherwise, signing up for the swap worked fine!

@bxncbx I just tested this on my phone and I do see the icons. It's the first thing in the list and says:

"Swap #1: " and then shows the grey circle.

The line under that then shows the plant name.

Could you check again? And if it's still not there, could you upload a screenshot of what you're seeing?

I have to get back to work but on the top line I see Swap 1: then the rest is blank. I'm using an older iPhone that hasn't been updated so maybe that's why.

Elena, unfortunately I don't have access to an iphone so I can't test this for myself.

Do you have access to another device or a desktop that you could use? Or is this something that I'll really need to fix for iphone?

I think I found the problem! The button only appears for items that are available. Right now that means they are ordered a little strangely - your available items are further down the list (I'll be changing that later.)

Scroll down to your available items and see if the checkbox is there.

Everything works fine, but when I looked at someone else's list, I noticed the Info/question mark misplaced. I took a screen shot to show you how it appears on my list. The ? is no longer under Comments, but pushed over, but it still shows the info. I double checked; the images still expanded and the edit button worked.

I'm just on a break at work, but so far it looks great! Functionally, I was able to select the checkbones for a couple of them, just to test. I like how there is a grey check already on our items marked 'available' to make it easy to find the seeds were most likely to check. Thumbs up nice touch!

Cosmetically, I notice colons right before the pictures and right before the edit icon, but that's tiny.

Everything looks good on my page but like others when I check out their page I don't see any green checks.

Yes, you're not supposed to see green checks on other pages. That is only a feature of your own list to enable or disable your own seeds from being offered.

Mine were gray and I checked them all off to make them available (green). I also added a few seeds to my list. They were grey until I made them green.

New entries will will always be grey until you specifically add them to the swap by making them green.

This is kind of non-intuitive, but if you are participating in multiple swaps at the same time, you'll need to have a way to add "Available" seeds but only let some be available in certain swaps. That's what the extra step is for.

I'm in -- everything seemed to work fine for me, once I figured out that I had to actually "join" before I would see the checkmark column *Blush*

Seems like a great way to set this up to accommodate having multiple swaps going at the same time!

@Dave you were right! The grey buttons were there for the available ones! Sorry I didn't look at the entire list. *Blush*
