thanks to a very talented friend and my loving husband, I am getting a little combination greenhouse and pot shed. Still some work to be done and some painting will need to be done in the spring when it's warmer - it was trying so hard to snow when the guys were working Fri. afternoon and Sat. Today my husband worked on some siding and I tried to clean some windows - not the best job I've done but trying to breathe took priority in my efforts and I've been having difficulty with that recently. I've been using portable greenhouses and having to discard them when they do not last - looking forward to using this one!

Some of these photos had to be taken from inside and the mesh of the window screen shows but I wasn't well enough to stay outside for long. There is some trim and capping to be done yet and in the spring I hope to be well enough to paint it inside. Shelves have to be put in too.

How cool is that! Looks great!

Does it have skylights too? Looks like you will be busy potting up lots of spring plants. Love it!

Is it meant for starting plants or season extension? I tip my hat to you.

The roof over the greenhouse part is clear corrugated plastic so the entire roof on that side is like a skylight. We are trying to find something to put up under the grooves to keep bees and such out. Bees are a necessary part of gardening but once they get in something like this it's like walking into a hive. Once they get in they seldom seem to be able to find their way back out.

I will have to start plants in the house under grow lights for anywhere from weeks to months before our outdoor growing season. We can't plant until around the 24th of May usually because of frost but with this I will be able to move my plants out a month earlier to start hardening them off. It could also be used to extend the season a bit. Any more than a couple of weeks either side and I'd have to run hydro out to it and have a heater. It is so much easier to have the plants outside in one of these than having to carry them in and out of the house every morning and night - upstairs from the basement.

Nice structure - you should get a lot of use out of it for a variety of garden tasks.
As for running hydro, have you considered a large water container? I have one that came from a camper or such that holds about 5 gallons. Since my rain barrels are nearby, I haul rainwater to fill up the large container which serves my needs for a couple of weeks. During the winter, I fill it up with city water and let it sit for a week or two before using (to minimize the chlorine).
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize that we can't eat money. Cree proverb

That's a good idea Cindy.
Lin I've seen wavy cut strips at builder supplies just for mounting that corrugated plastic.

I have been thinking of a water container. Our water catchment system is about 25 feet away and difficult for me to haul but my husband would fill for me. We only get to garden and use the water May to Oct.

I meant to mention the above. We did buy a piece of the stuff sold just for that purpose for the brand of roofing we used but it doesn't fit tightly for some reason - I don't know if it's the way the roofing was put up or what the problem is. When I was asking my husband and the fellow setting this all up I was discouraged from questioning any further so I don't know what the problem was but they didn't want to discuss it. I wasn't in a position to push things. A tight fit doesn't seem important to this fellow but as I mentioned above it is to me. My husband understands my concerns as well. Once bees find their way in, they often can't find their way out and it an be like walking into a hive there can be so many of them. Added to that, without wearing perfumes, I have always been a bee magnet and I get panicky when they follow me and crawl all over me - ugh!!!!!! Wearing fabric softener sheets in mu clothes helps and hanging a fake hive does as well but they aren't absolutes.

The only "bees" that I'm afraid of are the yellow jackets of late summer. I more often get paper wasps that build little nests inside the greenhouse. I admit to resorting to bug spray on them. Otherwise, the true bees are welcome inside the greenhouse.
My water container is square and sits on a shelf under the potting bench so that it's out of the way. You could rig it up with a spigot instead of trying to pour from it. DH even suggested a little pump but I haven't done either yet.

My husband is still plugging away on my little greenhouse whenever we have a nice enough day. It was only 2 C today so I doubt much else will get done until the spring now. We still have to put up inside framing around the inside of the 2 doors so they won't swing inward and there will be a slot to latch them in. And, we will need shelving of course. In the pic below you can see the clear plastic corrugated roofing on the greenhouse at the front so that most of it allows light in. There is regular shingling over the back storage area for pots and such.
