Seed catalogues are arriving and these little cukes are showing up in them. Has anyone grown these?

They are not actually cukes. Mexican Sour Gherkins (Melothria scabra). They do have a lot of names, But I have not been tempted to grow them. Have somehat of a sour taste, but some folks use them both for pickles and salads. Look like a miniature watermelon. Actually the West Indian Gherkin looks like a wet mouse when pickled, But I have not seen them advertised as mouse melons.

Maybe I'll just stick to regular cucumbers.

I grew them this summer and yet are DELICIOUS! They are so yummy. I like them when they are a little bit smaller than a grape. They are just a tad sour, but taste mostly like a cucumber. I call them "cuke nuts". They were prolific. They like heat a lot. Definitely go for it. @carolinescott

Okay---- might try them.
My original motivation was that maybe they would make easy pickles.
Like gherkins without the prickly skin?

That's enough to deter me from wanting to grow these to make pickles...

This is about the perfect size to eat them. This pic is from a garden I took care of last summer.

I guess that I will grow them after all as I just received some seeds from a swap!
I'll try to remember to report on them next summer.
