Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Will the day come when the plants will be able to raise the heat, turn on the lights and water themselves? Thumbs up

Thumbs up

I wonder, is it called a plant because things like electricity and chemicals, etc "grow" from there? Or maybe a throw back to plantations where most things food-wise got their start?

Great question!

Plant:
"A place where an industrial or manufacturing process takes place."

Green plants manufacture sugars, starches, proteins, lipids, leaves, fruits, seeds, etc.

They import raw materials like water, mineral salts and CO2.
They have energy requirements (sunlight and warmth).

They sometimes export their seeds by flinging or flying, but usually they rely on subcontractors like birds, squirrels, gardeners and farmers to move and consume their products.

I think they only things they don't have is lobbyists and lawyers.

Until scientists can find a way to provide chlorophyll to plants without the leaves being green, albino plants will not be able to survive. It is the chlorophyll that creates photosynthesis which in turn feeds the plant; sunlight converted to food/energy.

This is a very simple breakdown/explanation, but puts the problem for albino plants in clear terms.
