Nothing mean about this one. A real showstopper, great bud count and stunning in a clump.

My image is a little too close, it must be the cataracts...lol.

I am totally in love with Mean Green, it has excellent bud count, makes a beautiful clump and the bloom wows me. I will have to check out my camera as I just might have another photo of MG. Here is one of my pictures.

This has been a garden favorite here since it first came out! Garden visitors want to buy a piece of it on the spot. Given that this garden is in approximately the same climate as Judy's ( only 3 hours away) this plant is an excellent performer here as well as a vigorous grower. It has been divided twice and didn't even skip a beat.
I have gazillions of picture of it, here are only a couple. OK, 32 pictures of this cultivar saved in the files, will have to go through these files this winter. My camera apparently snaps pictures automatically when I walk by it < LOL> A huge CONGRATULATIONS goes to Judy for winning an HM for this cultivar in 2015 - well deserved! It got my vote.

"Mean Green" does great in Z5a too, it has some Michigan breeding in it's background, so that's not a surprise. Judy has been very successful at keeping northern hardiness in her program. Hurray!

MG really catches the eye of everyone and is one of our favorites.

And I'm thrilled that I found a nursery that isn't sold out of it and have one on order for spring!

One of my favorites. A huge, gorgeous plant with impeccable foliage and nearly perfect scapes. Flowers are clear sparkling apricot orange and open perfectly every time, and it looks both showy and elegant in the garden. It seems to stay in bloom forever (nearly two full months this past summer) and multiplies rapidly in my zone 6a garden. Another one of Judy's many masterpieces!!!
