What great timing
I just purchased this plant this spring at about 8'' tall . It grew beautifully in a large pot as an accent plant. It is not hardy in my zone 5 and was so beautiful I potted it up and it is now inside . It was all of 6 foot tall so I cut some top off and it roots great . I have some in water in my kitchen window that has been there about 8 weeks now. A little less color due to lack of sunlight.
My husband asked why I brought the Japanese maple inside He is right they do look almost the same.

My Question is ???
The plant never flowered while outside but is just now putting on lots of buds . I am thinking about cutting it back , because I am afraid the flowers will be too stressful on the plant , being inside and all

Any Ideas ?

@gardengus No, don't cut it back yet. This is the time when they bloom. You'll have time to cut it back later, but enjoy the blooms first.

I have this too. They give a nice color to the garden I agree with Bubbles its the time of year to enjoy it roots easy too.
