Hello @zuzu,

I want to post pictures for this Chilean native shrub - has the name been changed?

ursula

@zuzu, thanks to Jay, who makes me use my brain, I have realized I need and entry for Trevoa trinervis, not T. quinquenervia.

Jay, my reference book spells it the way I wrote it. I made two Google-Chile image searches and T. quinquinervia posts pictures of the shrub I know. However, it also provides images for T. quinquenervia, but there appears a different shrub (and one image of the shrub I know). Now I am really disoriented.

I found two different sites of Chilean flora, one spells it your way the other the way in our database. They both appear to be the same plant.

http://www.chileflora.com/Flor...

http://www.florachilena.cl/esp...

When I search Catalogue of life, your spelling there is no search results, but ATP spelling shows it as accepted name.

Thanks, Jay.

chileflora.com is of no value - this site belongs to a predator only interested in selling seeds, including endagered species prohibited to collect.

The pictures florachilena.cl lists, are from the shrub listed on Google, but different to the one I know (and many others Smiling ).

catalogueoflife.org posts no pictures.

OK, maybe my book has a printing mistake and should read T. quinquenervia, but what to do when the shrubs are different? The only thing both have in common are spiny branches, but leaves and flowers are different. This is a picture of mine:

WAIT A MINUTE ..... how did I end up with Trevoa quinqi(e)nervis, when I am looking for TREVOA TRINERVIS - that's the entry I need!

First of all, Trevoa is a feminine noun, so the Latin adjectives following the genus name will have feminine endings: Trevoa trinervia, not Trevoa trinervis.

Second, Trevoa trinervia is a synonym of Retanilla trinervia.

Retanilla trinervia

In the ATP database but no data information listed yet: Trevoa quinquenervia

Catalogue of Life shows the same spelling as our database:
Trevoa quinquenervia Gill. & Hook. - Species - accepted name

@zuzu ?????

OK, Retanilla trinervia is the name, but when I make Google image searches for Trevoa trinervis, it shows images of the same plant as for Retanilla trinervia. However, when I do a Google image search for Trevoa trinervia, Google shows no images and suggests to search for Trevoa trinervis.

Could you add Trevoa trinervis as a synonim in case other Chileans are interested in a search at ATP's PDB?

@plantladylin, I corrected myself - the species I was looking for is not Trevoa quinquenervia Whistling

I can't add it as a synonym because synonyms are obsolete species names that were once valid. This is not the case with Trevoa trinervis and Retanilla trinervis, which were never accepted names, so I'll add them as also-sold-as names. Smiling
