I felt the DG Mutiny thread pretty much said it for me, and I am sure many folks had some really valid, poignant, painful things to vent. and discuss. I do want to offer new members a place to feel comfortable as they explore the many garden rooms and their secrets and surprises.

We have quilters, and crocheters. We have folks that paint and sew and also sow. . We have gardeners and animal lovers , farmers and friends...... I think you all get the picture. I tip my hat to you.

It is lovely to see you all. Welcome!

I am fairly new over here myself and did not realize we had quilters. I will be checking that out. I have been away from quilting for a lot of years and want to start up again. Smiling

Thank you for starting this thread. I agree with everything you have said. I will probably continue 'over there' until my subscription expires, I hate wasting money, but I spend most of my computer time over here. Thumbs up

Hi Liz. The Sandbox is where you are free to start non-gardening threads. That is part of the reason for my beginning a new "after DG" thread. Here we can answer questions about ATP and help you all find or start threads for interest to you.

You are most welcome Melanie. I love the picture you are using as an avatar. We do need to look forward to happier times and better days.

Moon - the picture I am using is of Charlie being extremely interested in 3 white roosters who kept coming over to our property from a neighbor. They ate our bird seed, pooped on my brick paths, and were general (although not intended) nuisances. At first I thought they were cute - that wore off pretty quickly. Eventually I complained diplomatically and the neighbor took steps. I was sorry, but their fate was preordained anyway - he just moved it up a bit. Charlie found them endlessly fascinating - he barked (they ignored), jumped up and down (they ignored), and generally got plenty of exercise and entertainment.

Charlie missed them when they "went away" I'm sure. Sweet Pup.

Other people's chickens can be a nuisance. Not quite as bad as a turkey flock. They talk all the time, and when it rains, they stand and stare at the sky. They will do that until they they drown. We had a neighbor that kept turkeys....my oldest son (18 months) walked around singing Obble Obble, and repeating a few other choice things he heard the neighbor say. *Blush*

One of the things I really like on ATP is the way you can click on pictures and they get big - you can actually see them clearly along with all the color - no need to lean to the screen and peer trying to make out details. DG is not the only site that needs to learn how to do this - I am constantly annoyed at sites that have little pictures that you cannot see well - especially sites that are trying to sell you something.

Tuckersmom - have been here for a while. Started the transition several months ago after not liking the direction the old site was going.

Cindy, I came over mid September. Truthfully, I was looking for Dave's site and that is where I thought I was when I initially joined DG. You know, the name led me astray. nodding Obviously, I was wrong. Glad you are here! Glad I am here! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

I'm here! Moonhowl, I'm another knitter (well, I sew and crochet too, but lately it's been mostly knitting). I've not got the patience for quilting, though.

I'm here as well .. do I have to know how to knit etc.?
My forte is not crafting .. I'm the 'forever student' .. I like to go to university and take courses .. mostly the humanities ..
I have dabbled in cross stitch .. but, lost my drive for it ..

Anyway .. I talk lots .. drives even ME to distraction at times Rolling my eyes.

I am hoping that this will the jumping off point for all of our new folks to find people with like interests. That is how new threads and new friendships are born. nodding

Just keep posting your interests and if you see someone posting something you enjoy doing, give them a Thumbs up and let them know.

Hope you all had a safe Christmas. The lower half of the country has had some really bad storms and fires are plaguing California. Hope you are not experiencing any of the weather and fire woes.
